I was just wandering about some problems. I was just lazy to check my programme, but as there are so many girls and 3 boys and they are like the only ones who actually dance in the show, is like one of the girls the dance captain or is one of the ensemble the dance captain? And do they have like understudy rehersals?
Just wandering... :P thanks!

WestEndPro...I am amazed at the amount of information you know about Billy Elliot: The Musical. Are you anything to do with the company or are you a parent of one of the children (or something like that)?

The cast come out really quickly, so if you want an autograph be quick! The cast are really quite good a giving autographs and saying hello. You might get a picture too if you have your camera!

Welcome winsax. As JL fan says, you can usually see the Billy,Back up Billy and their Michaels within 10-15 minutes of final curtain. Sometimes there is a bit of a scrum around the stage door if parents, family friends, and chaperons are present along with fans. I have found all the Billys very accomodating about autographs and photos as long as you are patient and polite.Liam, George, and James are very good at PR especially as they are usually exhausted after the show and they richly deserve all the praise going. Older cast members often drink at the ´stage door´ pub across the road and I have found them also prepared to sign and chat briefly.
Enjoy the show when you come and good luck meeting the Billy´s afterwards.

Hi Ruthiefan_felix. In response to your question, I understand that the Billys and Michaels do indeed watch each other perform from time to time in order to learn and achieve a degree of continuity to the performance. This is part of Stephen Daldry´s aim as director to encourage them to develop and keep fresh. Each has their own individual little trademarks which are special to them, for example Brad´s attempt to create breasts when he is given the tutu and his very poignant sad good bye to Billy as the curtain falls. Having seen all the Billys and Michaels perform it is so nice to see their own special interpretations at key points. I am sure Leon will have a choreographic routine built around his special skills like the others have done. I was told by a cast member I spoke to recently, that he his very good in rehearsals so I shall look forward very much to see his individual presentation of the role of Billy. At present though let´s enjoy James and Ashley while they are still with the cast as they are superb and will be missed very much when they move on.

Well, I finally caught James and Ashley's performance last night as I watched the show for the 8th time (Liam 5, George 2 and James 1). I concur, James and Ashley are absolutely superb. In fact, all three sets are completely amazing, though in different ways.

I hope those of you wanting to see James and Ashley get the chance before they leave.

All great things must come to pass. We know the first will soon be last and in the ground we may be lain , but a seed is sown to rise again.

I’m so jealous of all you people who have been lucky enough to see James and Ash perform as ”Billy” and “Michael”. As yet, I’ve not been able to catch either of them on stage – I have my fingers crossed that in the next week or so that I strike lucky!

Both Liam and George and their co-stars also do a fantastic job as these characters, I’ve seen them now 2 ½ times each! I’m so pleased that they are staying on until December.

One question I was going to ask anyone who is actually performing in the show but is it actually milk that the boys drink before being told off by their mam?

Has anyone got any more photo’s they can share with us all?

what do people usually ask the cast when they meet them?

Hi winsax
If it is the Billys, you just usually have time to ask for an autograph or photo opportunity. They like to be congratulated on their performance or be given good wishes for the future.Time is the essence as there is little opprtunity for long chat.
I have found general comment rather than what might be construed as intrusive questioning or probing works well especially with the adult cast members outside the stage door pub. Just be as natural as you can be and you will find them all very helpful. They will cut off when they are ready as generally they are all pretty tired after the show especially on the 2 show days Thursday and Saturday.
Good luck and enjoy the show and meeting the cast.

The picture of James on stage is very good on billyelliotfans.com. It looks like it was taken by someone in the first row of the theatre? And it seems that if you sat there it would be awkward to look up all the time, as the picture taken shows that you are very below the stage. Is this true? Or is the front a good place to sit?

Hi_clarey_ the front row seats (rows A and B-25 pounds)sold on the day are to an extent resticted. You look up at the stage as they are orchestra level and you cannot see the dancers feet so it is half leg upwards. You are very close to the action and have a great view of the little ásides´between the cast members. You have an excelent view of the Billys and Michaels but the seats (maximum 2 per individual) will not be to everyones taste. The ´front row gang´(regulars who have seen the show 20 times plus) are often there and form a little community in themselves. You may also be lucky and see some of the Billy/ballet girls family members there encouraging their sons and daughters on.

i think there is half of row a but the other half has been taken away because in parts of the show cast members climb up and down from the stage from there.

Is the theatre fairly large compared to theatres in West End?

I think the theatre is an average size theatre imo... not REAL big like Theatre Royal Drury Lane or real small like the the Fortune....

The picture was taken early on in rehersals. The boys were asked to pose like that. I think they look like cool dudes! you are probably used to seeing George with a big grin!

In answer to Jeremy 3's question yes there is a row A on the left hand side of the stalls when looking at the stage, I'm sure that anyone in the Front Row gang can clarify this!

In terms of the Billy Elliot Fans website, I think you'll find that it's another fan that is constructing this and putting it altogether - keep up the great work :o)

On behalf of the 'front row gang'....row A is actually on the RIGHT side of the stalls as you face the stage. The lefthand side is where Billy gets off the stage at the end. There are only about 10 seats in row A. Very close to the stage and orchestra pit, in fact you can almost feel the breeze off of the trumpet when its blown...lol!

Hope that clarifies things.
