Results of the JL quiz stand at loopy_lucy_loo with 2 and a half out of 6 - it WAS a really difficult quiz, and one which I have since realised over-stepped the bounds of privacy - so a couple of answers will not be revealed.
1. James travelled on his own on the train.
2. He had a length of that stringy cheese gripped in his teeth as he signed autographs.
3. To remain private.
4. George was playing Billy, and James was in the frontmost left hand dress circle box (not on sale due to restricted view)
5. To remain private.
6. Thorpe park - come on - nearly every entrant got this one - where are the PHOTOS!
Well - half term hols start tomorrow - so I'll be away for a while, including a trip to London on Thursday to see - guess what!
My mum and I went to see the show in September. I really wanted to see the show but my mum wasn't to keen. We went along to the theatre anyway that morning (on a Saturday)about 11.45 and saw a queue. We didn't know what it was for but we decided to give it a go. We queued for what must have been 15 minutes. Then at 12 this women that worked a the theatre came out and told us about the day tickets. There must have been about 30 people infront of us but we decided to wait and see what happened. When we go to the front we where told there were 6 tickets left for the evening performance and about 20 for the afternoon. We took the tickets for the evening and the tickets we got were for the very front row.
We didn't mind not being able to see some people's legs because we felt so close to the action. The show was fantastic and we really enjoyed ourselves.
All I want to say from this post is you can get great seats on the day and turn up at 12 0'clock. I would advise get there a bgit earlier as you can never be sure how big the queue will be.
Haven't post for quite few hours. Just got back from mary poppins (thanks for all of you who told me how to get day ticket. It really help!!) BTW, where is thorpe park (curious!!)
I just watched mary poppins yesterday - actually few hours ago. The next for me will be billy elliot on 3rd dec and mary poppins with new cast 9haven't set the date yet).

Just came back from tonight's performance! Leon was on but with Ryan and Lucy! The performance was perfect and everyone gave the cast a standing ovation in the end. At the stage door, I saw James and Stephen Daldry! It is SO exciting! It's late... and I'll post a longer review tomorrow!

Ok i know this first thing isnt strictly billy related, but as some of you are in the biz, could you pleaze help me. Im only 16, but am currently writing a musical. Does anyone have any contacts for directors producers, script writers etc, coz i mainly write music, and people who have heard it so far think its amazin, i just need a bit of professional help. Anyone got a contact for lee hall in particular. Also cant decide what my fav musical is. Its between billy and les mis. Can people give me pointers for each and help me decide which is better. Cheers Richard
wow writing a musical at sixteen. that is so cool.
Good Luck i hope it gets somewhere! maybe in a couple of years time everyone on here will be talkinga bout your musical as well as billy elliot.
and between les mis and billy elliot i would have to say billy elliot but that is mainly because its more realistic and is also very english i found parts of les mis a bit to confusing because it is set in france although the music in les mis is AMAZING just Billy Elliot has that extra something special in it! Les Mis is nothing special and i think the reason lots of people here worship it is because it was their first show.
i've seen it once, right before it closed on broadway and was totally underwhelmed by it. The music all sounds like every other thing that that team and Webber has written and the staging was...um...not wonderful (turntable anyone?)
It's a show that is easily accesible to lots of people but in the creative department i think it lacks something.
See Blood Brothers or Marry Poppins if you're in London (along with Billy OF COURSE)
and if you're in NYC there are MUCH GREATER alternatives to a Webber or Disney show.
just my opinion

ALW didnt write les miz caroline.also les miz is FAR superior to billy elliot.blood bros is not bad and mary poppins is awful, avoid it.best shows r les miz billy elliot(wen liam performs)and lion king.

ALW did not write les mis but the music style is almost exactly the same.
the french team (i can't wuite recall their names at the moment...) that wrote les mis also write Miss Saigon and such.
they all sound the same
it's sorta pathetic. These are the types of musicals that i don't really like.
Maybe it's because i'm sorta a Sondheim Whore ()
Marry Poppins is very good and Lion King is imported Disney schlock (IMO). You can get Lion King anywhere you want, just watch the movie or what not or see it in NYC. Apart from the brilliant Opening Sequence in the Lion king there is nothing worth remembering. THe music is generic and not worth your time, the acting can be ok but the actors are given nothing. IT's purely (sp) spectacle which is the way sadly most musicals are turning. There are a few exceptions but i have to go so i'll see you all later
PS- im not bitter

Deary me, les mis aint that bad, boubil and schonberg is the correct spelling if your interested, and it cant be that bad, 1 more year to go, and it will beat cats as longest running west end musical ever. The songs arnt particularly lively, but for those who have seen it, i think 'one day more' out classes most songs from most musicals, but billy has its strong points too, such as the comedy and dancing. oh i cant decide, its too hard! Would still appriciate any advice on contacts people have if possible Cheers
I know.... I was sleepy... and I don't get the story. Well done for you, mad about billy, and also good luck for your musical and contacting directors. So far, the best of all for me are mary poppins and billy elliot.
