You could always queue for day tickets if you really want to go. I've never done it myself but a few board members have and can probably advise you on the best time to get there, etc.
All great things must come to pass. We know the first will soon be last and in the ground we may be lain , but a seed is sown to rise again.
Thanks for the advice. I used to queue for day ticket, but ended up with non-day ticket. I'll try it again. Is there any tip (when I have to start to queue, etc). Is this all because of half-term?

Can anyone tell me about returns etc. What chance do I have of a single ticket anywhere, if I arrive at the box office at 6.30pm on any day of the week. I will be at Victoria at this time quite often in the future. Any hints and tips I would be really grateful for. Plus any news on Tim Healy's replacement.
I have queued for day tickets, I think the doors open at about 10.30am. I have always got front row but be careful the view is not good, you miss quite a bit of the action at the back of the stage, (unless you are tall of course). If your ticket is an end seat the view is even worse. Tickets are £25.00 and are released on the day. I am not sure where other day release seats are, sorry.
To DaisyJ, my sister phoned the box office constantly to get tickets on a particular Saturday for a special reason, in the end on the Thursday she managed to get dress circle front row, on the end but good views for £17.50! so keep phoning box office is my advice. Let me know how you get on.
Day seats go on sale at mid day but the box office opens at 10am and you really need to be outside waiting before then as they have since September reduced the number of seats they release - look at ebay, all the row B stalls seats on sale were previously only available on the morning of the show for £25 - they are going for twice the price on ebay of course..
Having sat in the line for day seats on a number of occaisions now my observation is that there are usually odd single seats available for the evening performance as long as you are not fussy about where you sit. If you book on the phone, you often get put through to ticketmasters but if you ring pm quite often get the theater box office and they are a lot more helpful.
Hope that helps

Thanks for all who gave me advice. I'll try mary poppins day ticket first as I just watch it twice. I think the advices given to me will also apply in Mary poppins.

Before I start waffling on, I just want to thank West End Fan 2 who managed to help me sell my two extra tickets for Billy Elliot last night due to the fact that a couple of people from my coach party hadn’t turned up! If only they knew what they were missing out on!
Yesterday’s performance was "Electrifying!"
ALL the cast members in this show are so strong in each of their roles, it’s going to be so interesting to see what happens when the new cast takes over in December. I really wish that Joe Caffrey and Tim Healy wasn't leaving this production! Their acting skills and facial expressions are great.
Emma was playing Debbie last night and was very comical. Especially on her tap number during "Shine", well done to you.
The definite stars of the show for me though was both Leon and Joey...
Leon's performance was outstanding, especially his ballet (which for those of you who have not seen him yet is at a similar level to Liam’s) His singing was again brilliant but what did it for me was his great acting ability. At the end of the show he looked as though he had really enjoyed himself.
As for Joey who played Michael, it’s a shame that he's not in the show as much as Billy. His partnership with Leon was superb.
With regards to my other comment I made the last time I watched the show, the smoke during the Swan Lake scene has got so much better.
Oh, one other thing that happened in the second half which I had never seen before was that Leon couldn't put his audition tape back together again… as he was struggling, it was instead left down to the sound engineer to real the tape back into place.
From the feedback I had on the coach going home, this show will be around for some time to come.
Well I think I've pretty much covered everything...
I've seen the tape thing happen before with Liam performing. The tape wasn't winding back on properly for some reason so he had to hand it on half wound back.
All great things must come to pass. We know the first will soon be last and in the ground we may be lain , but a seed is sown to rise again.
Have you ever tried to do that thing with the tape - WITHOUT the pressure of 1500 people watching you - I'm surprised it EVER goes all the way back in. I've seen it jam too.
Please - keep up these wonderful new reviews coming. OK, so a lot of folk have seen the show, even more have already read loads of reviews, but each person will always have something new to add - not least of all, who played Billy, so that others, with a trip to the VP in the near future can play the game of guess who will be on stage on their visit. I and the family are going on Thursday afternoon - when I'll get the CD if it's on sale - woohoo.
Is it true, does anyone know, that whoever plays on Friday night will also do the Saturday matinee? It does make sense really, to let one crew have the full weekend off!
Onto my "Who's the biggest JL fan" quiz from yesterday - I've had a rethink about the issues involved here, and do not want to be seen to be compromising James's right to privacy, so at least one, if not two or three of the questions will not be answered. I'll mark the relevent ones in the original mail.
Day tickets at the VP are a bit difficult to get on a Saturday, because between 6 and 8 eastern european guys get in the queue at about 8 o clock to buy the day tickets for touting at greatly inflated prices outside the theatre at night.
It's easy to say that the VP should do something about this, but it is difficult to see just what COULD be done.
The door opens at 10 am, and the tickets (usually) go on sale at 12 noon, although they did start selling at 10:15 once (on the day of James's last perfromance)
Hi Everyone imnew so i dont know if this has been posted yet, but dress circle are advertising the release of billy elliot cast recording on the 21st november. It also states that all 3 boys are on the cast recording hope this is of any help. www.dresscircle.com
i also saw the thursday night performance with Leon, and i think the star of the show was Joey- he was amazing. and just so funny. leon was ovioulsy brillaint though. i was impressed. i can not wait to see this show again. any one who has got any tickets please tell me as i would love to go. i arrived dead oon 7.30 i had to leg it from my stage school to be in london on time. chas but well worth it. one or two ballet girls in perticular stood out and debbie was tremendous, the small boy also seemed to add a great deal to some scenes. such a great night. xx
