I've seen the show and really liked it. I would like to see how it would be done if it does make the move over to the Jacobs.

https://www.broadwayworld.com/article/RIALTO_CHATTER_BLOODY_ANDREW_JACKSON_Headed_to_Bernard_Jacobs_Theatre_on_Bway_this_Fall_20100615

The New York Times has just revealed that BLOODY BLOODY ANDREW JACKSON, which is playing The Public Theatre through June 27 after multiple extensions, has been offered the Bernard Jacob's Theatre on Broadway for a fall opening by The Shubert Organization, should producers choose to make the quick transfer.

While the show's run at the Public was a critical and box office success, leaving the show in prime position for a fall opening on Broadway, one glitch is the availablity of the show's star, Benjamin Walker, who has been offered a role in the upcoming X-Men film, which also goes into production later this year. According to the Times' report, it is unknown if Walker has accepted X-Men or if the Jacob's Theatre would be made available to the production sometime for later in the 2010-2011 season.

Welcome to the boards...

Isn't the Jacobs a bit large for this show? I feel like the Golden would be a much better fit.

Thank you, and yes I would agree the Golden is probably a better suit for the show but I believe the Jacobs holds only a bit over 200 more people than the Golden. Perhaps the Golden is booked already? I'm not sure.

I love this show. Love love love it. I will have seen it *too* many times before it ends its run.

I just don't think it'll work in nearly any of the Broadway houses, except Circle in the Square. It needs the intimacy. And I certainly can't see a transfer happening without Ben Walker.

I loved this show. It was my second favorite musical of the theater season and definitely my favorite score of the season. I hope it transfers, I bet it'll find an audience if it does. But I agree, the Jacobs seems a bit big for this show.

Just wondering, how many extensions has it had at the Public? When was the original closing date supposed to be?

I adored this show too and I thought it was the highlight of last season.

But I think it'll get lost on Broadway. If they do make the transfer, I hope they're able to make it as environmental as it was at The Public. I know commercial off-Broadway is dead, but this could easily be the kind of show that revived it.

Walker was fabulous but I think he can be easily replaced without the show suffering. Though I'd be highly impressed if he chose Andrew Jackson over X-Men. He'd be my new hero.

What I want to know is what role Ben Walker's been offered!

Let's say "Next Fall" closes, what about the Helen Hayes? I think it would be a great house for the show. I find it funny, that to me, the 2 most intimate houses are privately owned. Anyone know off by hand, the smallest Broadway theatre owned by one of the three major owners?

The Booth.

Isn't the Helen Hayes owned by Second Stage now? When does that relationship officially begin?

The Helen Hayes could work, as well. I didn't even consider it.

I LOVED this show. When you guys mentioned the Golden, it took me to seeing Red there in the rear mezz. It would be a travesty seeing the show from there. The Public was such a great space for the show. Wherever it ends up (if at all), it needs to be as atmospheric as the Public. Mind you, I have never seen a show at the Hayes, but this show needs intimacy and atmosphere. And would it really fill the house? I know it has been extended, but when I saw it on a Saturday night two weeks ago, it certainly wasn't busting at the seams with ticketholders.

I am all in support of this show, but wonder whether it can fill the seats in a Broadway house.

On the other hand...it is excessively hip and a great way for the younger set to "learn" history through a fun rock piece.

Who knows...anything is a coin toss these days and I applaud anyone willing to take a chance on something new and bold who may be willing to lose their money on such a gamble.

If this show does go to the Bernard Jacob's theatre, I better get an orchestra seat when I see it.

^This seems very similar to when La cage was rumored for the golden, and when it was confirmed for the Longacre, alot of people thought it would get lost there. Also, Bloody has played much larger spaces in it's past lives pre-off-broadway, just search the internet and you'll find the set designs (which I love just as equally as the current one). Anywho, Bloody in a theatre is better than none!

I just don't know. I think the Jacobs has a nice atmosphere about it because of the openess of it all, and doesn't it have the big wall painting? That sort of suits the set design. While I think the Circle in the Square could be really cool because it would be the easiest theater to "transform," it's not like it couldn't be done elsewhere. Similar to what Fela! did. I know it would never go there, but I think the American Airlines would be a nice fit. I wonder if they'd beef up the set design and whatnot for Broadway? I think the show should beef up in general - I think it needs an intermission.

My little cousin Sophie's bat mitzvah could be headed to the Bernard Jacob's Theatre. Like BBAJ, we just need to raise the dough and get a commitment from Benjamin Walker (or someone like him, I guess)...

It may be too large a house, but I think, with Cubby Bernstein's help, we can fill it.

Where is the man who wants to stop apostrophe abuse? He has a great cause.

Bernie Jacobs is dead. He doesn't own the Jacobs Theatre. He never did. He may have thought he owned it, but the Shubert Organization does.
