i totally disagree that it gives the most insight. there are at least 3 other songs that are much more revealing. mountains is about her missing the life she used to have. im not saying it's unimportant, i just don't think it was the best song in the show.
and way to be completely obnoxious about someone's opinion again. get a life.
It's not so much the life she used to have in terms of what she used to do.
It's the life she had emotionally. The emotional ups and downs that came from an unmedicated life. She wants to be able to connect with Natalie, with Dan, with herself. But she can't because of the pharmaceutical-induced haze all the medications have put her in.
yes, thats a good point. very well put.

I certainly feel its one of the most important songs, not to mention it is a song that personally means a lot to me.
I understand the the meotions displayed in the song and have had the same feelings. I know what its like to have to choose between feeling miserable and feeling nothing.
well then i can definitely see why that song would mean so much to you. we all have different opinions and different songs that speak to each of us. it's really awesome to hear why a song that didn't mean as much to me could have a wealth of meaning to someone else (without being told that my opinion is any less valid)
btw, "you dont know" was the song that effected me the most

It originally came between There's a World and Did'd I See This Movie. Dan sings it and it was a really great insight in the character and his decision making process before he convinces Diana to take the ECT. Plus I would have killed to see Brian sing it.
I am definitely looking forward to seeing Bobby Spencer (he was great in Jersey Boys) although I loved Brian D'Arcy James.
I also have not heard a confirmation that Alice Ripley is in the show.
I will also be seeing the first preview of Ace and am excited to see two of my favorite actresses, Christiane Noll and Emily Skinner, back on stage together again. Emily did her cabaret act yesterday at Signature's open house event so it got me all excited for seeing her perform in a show again.

Cue the parting of clouds, a beam of sunlight and a choir of angels.
Ok that feels good, I had already bought tickets sort of banking on that happening. *whew*

I understand it's your favorite song, or whatever, but that doesn't mean they can't come up with something better. I'm not saying the meaning of the song is dumb, etc, but I'm hoping they come up with something better. The words are a little...eh to me. And melody is a little early 90s rock.

What the hell was that in response to? Cause the only posts in this thread for the last 2 and a half weeks are about the fact that alice is concerned.
SO happy to finally get confirmation!
Yay for official confirmation. I already had my subscription ticket, but this makes it even better.
Finally, a official confirmation.
Not trying to downplay Ms. Ripley's value to the production, but I saw her understudy Jessica Phillips, and she was more they capable of carrying the show as well.
But Ripley is fierce nonetheless.

Chance chill out. I was responding to your response about my original post.
That's very good news. Looks like I'll be taking a bus down in November to check the show out again.
so if Bobby is going to Next to Normal when does he leave Jersey Boys
I'm certain he will do very well but I'm going to miss him as Nick
