I've seen a couple articles about this being a possiblity and I'm still waiting! Would definitely want the orginal cast in it but who knows if that could happen. Is there anyone you would want to see in it if this ever does happen?

If you don't mind me asking, why not? There's tons of good musical theater film adaptions. Reefer Madness and The Producers are a couple. It doesn't have to be one in theaters per say or a big thing but I know some good musical film adaptions. I know Matlida is expected to get a film adaption at some point.

I would love to see it trimmed down to a 90 minute movie format, my biggest issue with the show was that it was TOO LONG and that the jokes dragged on. A more compact telling would make it better IMO.

I love The Book of Mormon, but I just don't see it working as a movie. I feel like it would turn out the way RENT did.

It would have to be a South Park-style adaptation I am certain, like that clip someone did of "Hello" a few years back.

I feel like at this point they can use the original Broadway cast since josh and Andrew are now famous, but they are also 5 years older. Maybe they should do it in the style of team America or South Park.

I would be extremely disappointed if Andrew Rannells and Josh Gad weren't in it, but both of their characters are only suppose to be 19. I think it could be overlooked though.

Yes, it totally could. Playing 19 on television vs. on stage is way easier to pull off. Look at most of the teen television shows of the last decade, all of their stars were playing freshmen/sophomores in high school at age 22, 24, 26, etc.
Andrew Rannells could totally pull off a 20-year-old.

With the way Matt Parker and Trey Stone like to play around with different visual styles I would love to see the movie version done in a more classic, hand-drawn animation style.
Somebody did a storyboard animatic a few years ago for "You and Me (But Mostly Me)" that I thought worked really well.

It's not a thread about Book of Mormon until Roxy for the five billionth time makes some reference to how much he hates the show.
I feel like as "simple" an idea the movie sounds, it would be a lot more of an undertaking. I feel like they would have to rework a lot.

"Refer Madness" and "The Producers"...adapted as motion pictures...were pale reminders of the stage versions. I don't think "Book of Mormon" would translate to film...and that's OK.

I assume the film rights are with Scott Rudin and Paramount. I wonder if it did happen, would Matt and Trey direct it or could they hand the reins over to someone else?

I totally trust Matt and Trey to come up with a way to translate the show to film. I could see it being a great homage to the visual style of classic movie-musicals. Their student film Cannibal: The Musical has a similar style.
This is honestly one of the few current shows I could see being a film. Just based on how well-established in that world its creators are.
