Saw the production last wed. night. Thought that both Ramin Karimloo and Earl Carpenter were fantastic as Valjean and Javert, respectively. It's a shame that they are not bringing Earl Carpenter with them to Broadway.
On a separate note, it was my first time seeing the new production, and I was very sad that the Drink With Me reprise has been cut. I remember that as being one of the most moving scenes when i first saw the original production on tour in 1991. I also found the set less effective than the original.

Perhaps Karimloo and Swenson were chosen because they are younger, more attractive actors and will appeal to the "young" theatre goers (aka the ones who are so young they didnt know it was a musical until they saw the movie -_-) Someone like Norm Lewis wouldn't play to that generation. Not just his age, but his voice too. It's a way to keep the longtime theatre goers happy as they are veterans of the stage as well as bring in new people. However, I can agree with one thing....Caissie levy?? Really??

Plaza: Interesting! Also interesting that it was on the official LM FB. (I did similar googling and also found it, or at least what was left in the Google cache.)

I assume this is post in question:

In which case that's just someone's speculation, not anything official.

This musical has vacillated in its interpretation throughout the past few decades back and forth between being pop/rock based in its performance, and more operatic. This cast looks like a swing back towards pop after a few years when the show was much more operatic in style.

Interesting to see Betsy Morgan in the ensemble. I assume she's Caissie's understudy.

Yeah, we've also got Max Quinlan and Jason Forbach in the ensemble as well. I would assume they're understudying too.

Wow - THREE of the principal players from the tour have taken "demotions" to ensemble. At least they have a job!

^ It's not as bad as Wicked. Almost, if not every, standby and understudy for Elphaba on Broadway for the past few years has been a lead in another production.

Just out of curiosity, anyone know which of the ensemble men will be playing Grantaire?

I'm not complainin' or anything. You're right, at least they're working. I'm just curious if they're at least understudying.

interesting to see that Arbender Robinson is already leaving Beautiful to do Les Miz.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

I thought the same thing. Antoine Smith didn't transfer with the show from SF, so that's two pre-B'way folks who are leaving before opening.
