The only thing that has excited me about this production so far is Nikki M. James' singing "On My Own."

Im not talking about the names of the actors, I'm talking about the Les Mis Brand Name.

Honestly I probably was gonna skip this because I wasn't a fan of the movie but I will DEFINETLEY be making the trip now. Does anyone know when tickets go on sale?

You could've said that in 1987 too, Betty.

This new production isn't terrible, I just don't think it really has a "wow" factor like the original did. The barricade is rather whimpy. The only cool effect is when they go into the underground with the projections. Even his suicide felt very 80s to me. I feel like there are smarter and more creative ways to do it now. But maybe they'll change some stuff for Broadway. Hopefully it's not just an exact replica of the tour set.

Is Nikki on her way to a second Tony?

We have not even seen these performances yet. No one has. The Tony prediction can stop now.

"Then don't buy a damn ticket."
THAT.
... And when did either of us say we were going to "buy a damn ticket"? This is a discussion board. People are going to talk about their thoughts on the casting even if they don't align with yours 100%.

You're entitled to your opinion but by your 4th or 5th post repeating how you feel the casting is uninspired, it gets old, hence my agreement with the earlier poster. And follow your own advice about this being a discussion board and stop ordering people to stop talking about potential Tony nominations. You're not in charge of this thread.

People can make whatever predictions they chose to and talk about how excited they are about this. That's what this board is for. It's NOT for you to say controlling things in an attempt to stop people from talking about what you don't want to talk about. Bitch about the production all you want, but don't ever tell people what they can or can't do. Thanks!

Please keep the predictions coming people!

My oh my... this is getting ugly early. I have seen the tour. I do not think it is worthy of winning for any of the design elements. Performances, I don't know. Like I said, no one has seen them yet. Making Tony predictions just seems a little pointless right now IMO, but if that's what y'all want to do, I will shut up and let you do so.

Personally, I was hoping they would bring in Betsy Morgan to reprise her performance. Now that was a magical performance.

^ Betsy Morgan's Fantine was one of the most breathtaking performances I have seen. I can vividly remember pretty much every nuance of her performance. Distinguished perfection.

The Broadway revival will not be exactly the same as whatever tour you have seen. Cameron Mackintosh has said that. So, you really don't know anything about the set design or what changes will be made.

I'm hoping they do the whole thing in mauve this time.

Cameron Mackintosh has said that.
When did he say this? I just looked at the press release from today, and it is all the same designers and same concept. I hope they make some changes to the physical design. As it is now it would be an awkward fit at the Imperial, but I would be surprised if we saw any major changes.
The new production is directed by Laurence Connor and James Powell, designed by Matt Kinley inspired by the paintings of Victor Hugo with costumes by Andreane Neofitou and Christine Rowland, lighting by Paule Constable, sound by Mick Potter and projections by Fifty-Nine Productions.

THIS! I don't want to just see the tour version ( with minor changes) put on Broadway. Dull. I'm not convinced this is going to be anything inspiring.

I too heard from a reliable source that Charlotte Maltby will play Cosette. She's incredible!
