Posted: 4/21/11 at 10:03amI'd love to see this show revived as well, and Circle in the Square seems like the perfect venue. Are they still trying that absurd "fan-produced" concept?

Carrie however is confirmed, Stafford Arima the director is a friend on Facebook (mutal friends in common) and ive spoke to him about it. The production is set for this year, some of the work they are doing to it sounds amazing.
As for Godspell, personally i loath the show but it's one of those shows that all theatre fans seem to want to see revived. They tried it a few years ago in the UK.....it was horrid and a disaster, nobody went to watch it.

Posted: 4/21/11 at 10:21amThe Carrie revival is set for far Off-Broadway in a tiny house, and is a precarious part of the season. And, like Wonderland, it's never going to work, except for potential isolated moments.

"They've been planning to bring it for quite a few seasons now."
I had bought tickets for the last time they tried to revive it and then cancelled it.

As far as I know, they ARE moving forward with this production. The Director has been in meetings with the design team, a preliminary set model has been built, and the show is being budgeted.
Its not happening very quickly, but the show IS moving forward. And its a completely new production, no longer a transfer of what they did at Paper Mill.

That's about what I'm hearing, too.
I don't know why everyone is scoffing about the "fan-produced" concept. Plenty of shows are financed with many small investors. That's not a new concept. The only thing different about GODSPELL is that the minimum investment is lower and the pitch is public instead of private to a select group. But it's the same idea.

Guillermo Wiechers, a Mexican theater producer, said recently that he was invited by Ken Davenport to be part of Godspell. He is listed on "The People of Broadway" page but who knows how important is his participation.
On this interview, in Spanish, he says that the musical may open this October on the Barrymore theatre and that they want someone from American Idol or Glee to be part of the cast. He also says that even though most of the investors are not part of the process he asked to be involved.

Unless it's somebody who has left Glee I'm not sure how they could open in October and have a Glee cast member be a part of the show.
I've never really watched Glee. Is there somebody who has left, or will leave after this current season, who would have enough of a "name" to really allow the producers to play up their involvement?
