I'm not a fan of Stamos...but I remember hearing he was quite good in Cabaret.

How long ago was the revival of Nine with Antonio Banderas (sp?) I didnt' think it was that long ago....2003? I really enjoyed the production....was mesmorized by Jane Krakowski.

>"Why would a casting announcement be released on President's Day?"

?? How would that make a difference?<

You usually do not try to announce theatre news on a holiday. The argument is that people are away on a three day weekend and not paying attention. But if they are announcing this evening for tomorrow's newspapers, that's something else entirely and would make more sense.

Dramamama, I also loved that production of Nine and I think 2003 was about right. The article I found said John was going to take the role over from Antonia Banderos on Oct. 7, but I guess that never happened? I would have seen the show again if he had done it.

re: Broadway Cast of Rock of Ages

Stamos indeed took over for Banderas. Eartha Kitt also went in for Chita Rivera. Jenna Elfman was supposed to replace Jane Krakowski, but was deemed to need more rehearsal before going in. I think she is almost ready now.

Just looked up on IBDB....the show closed mid Dec of 03...so he only played the role for about 8 weeks.

First of all I am only new to this Board. But I am first and foremost a Fan of Constantine. I have seen ROA while it was on Off-Broadway three times. And as long as Constantine is in it, with the orignal NYC ROA Band. I am happy. Though keeping the most of theorginal cast would be nice. And I am sure when the time is right, they will let us all know who will be in the current.

Yes, of course they will: but that is not the point. The point is that we are antsy to find out who is right:

Wishing or Snarky

My money is on Snarky....but who knows!

I find Constantine as repulsive as Clay Aiken or Taylor Hicks on Broadway. I know he was trained in musical theatre but he never even graduated. He failed his Senior year and dropped out.

He's also a huge jerk. He visited his old school, which I now teach at, and brought an "entourage" (is that needed?) to walk around with him. Was very arrogant and snobby.

He might a jerk, but I thought he actually graduated from Boston Conservatory and Berklee School of Music. Is this not true?

Oh..and to the person who used wikipedia as a reference to disprove the existence of Santa Claus...or to prove his existence..I couldn't decide...anyhow...Wikipedia should never be used as a source since anyone can write on it without verification.

So I see you are not a fan. That is your right and free will. But it makes me wonder why you are on this thread, Considering Constantine is the star of this show. and a very nice man. I have talked to him at least 26 different times one on one. And I know other people that would agree with me. So it makes me wonder, where you are getting your information at that is obvouisly not true. Nor do I believe you are a staff member at BoCon. And if you are, trashing a former student is very unprofessional, reguardless his or her staduis at the school.

Constantine has been listed on the BoCo newsletter as one of the alumni - that occurred back in 2005, shortly after he had been on American Idol. The man has experience in the theater and he is a crowd favorite.

Thanks for posting that picture of Stamos in Nine - if I had been reading this thread back then I would have gone to see him.

Charleston, what do you teach at the school?

Whoops...I totally didn't realize my last comment was addressed to the same person. So, I apologize.

I'm not sure...but I would think that spreading rumors(true or false) about students(present or past) would be a fireable offense. I know that if I did such a thing, I would be let go in an instant. So be careful, Charleston. I'm not a petty person and wouldn't try to snoop out your identity and expose you, but someone who reads this board might.

The entire faculty speaks freely of the fact that his pompous attitude and lazy slacker attitude is what caused him to repeat a semester. He originally did not graduate.

He ended up receiving his diploma but never walked at a Graduation Ceremony.

It's a well-documented fact and feel free to research, if you choose to disregard what I'm saying. I don't care either way.

Constantine is untalented and has a terrible attitude. I'm simply not a fan and it's a shame that he's transferring with it to Broadway.

TheCharleston, you just totally contradicted yourself. Dropping out and not walking at graduation are two completely different things. I didn't walk at my graduation for my Master's because I did not want to go through the whole ceremonial process. That doesn't mean I didn't earn my Master's, though. I still have my degree and the diploma to prove it.

Also any self respecting professor would NEVER use Wikipedia as a reference for ANYTHING.

You're entitled to your opinion and I am entitled to say that I think Constantine is very talented and am happy he is going to be starring in the Broadway version of Rock of Ages.

I notice you said he received his diploma. Usually, they only give those to graduates, I believe. :)

Make up your mind.

This sounds all too familiar.
Nice try though-

I will say I think Constantine is very well suited for this show. And as much as people will want to slag on ROA for being a silly jukebox musical, it is probably vocally one of the hardest show out there right now. The range that guy has to sing every night is ridiculous. I give it up to him for that alone.

She claims she teaches at BoCon. If you want to believe that. Also Constantine is one of the nicest people you could met. He also has as a very positive and professional attitude towards everyone he meets.

So he did graduate. And it is odd that he was given an apprenticeship at Williamstown upon graduating. If things were so bad, why would he get that?

And BTW Charleston, that was the 2nd time he received an invitation to return and speak at BoCo.

And you still didn't say what you teach there.

he doesn't seem pompous to me, tho surely most celebs put on their best faces for the fans. I met him once at Wedding Singer and he remembered me when I saw him in Rock of Ages. I was pretty impressed actually... thats some memory he's got. granted being in a wheelchair makes me stand out a little but I asure you Im not a super fan who screamed at his mere presence for him to remember that we'd met before- it was a pretty routine "great show" kind of encounter.

I know what I saw.

An egotistical celebrity-wannabe who felt the need to bring a damn entourage with him for a workshop.

He also had an encounter with an old tap teacher at the institution when he came back for the workshop. She had failed him while he was a student there and when she attempted to say hello, he blatantly blew her off and made a snarky side comment. I saw the whole thing.

Not the right way to respect your elders. He's still bitter he failed Tap!

Charleston you seem to be really upset by Constantine.
Did he get a role or job you also wanted?
Why are you so bothered by him?

For the record, my friend is the Constantine fan and I have met him several times, over 30. He has always been friendly and professional to me, even knowing I was not there for him.

He is more talented than I initially gave him credit for, but if you saw him in Brel and ROA, you would know that. I am assuming you have not.

I also agree that for you to be a faculty member, and first start a rumor that he didn't graduate when in fact did. Is really not professional.
