Maybe if the "whole staff" didn't speak of him in a sour grapes and ill manner, he wouldn't feel the need to be snarky.
I'm not too sure how plesant I'd be to someone that failed me in a class either...deservedly or not.
Respect is a two way street...perhaps none of you deserved it.
"She claims she teaches at BoCon"
Then I'm a Rockette.
Constantine has saud that he is not a dancer. And yet on stage, he is very graceful. But he had to take more than Tap. He had to do courses on modern and jazz technique and ballet. Tap is one of the smallest numbers of credits in the dance portion of the curriculum for the Theater majors.
What do you teach there, Charleston?

I know Constantine. I don't find him snobby and least of all untalented. I think he's got loads of talent.
kevincahoon - I phrased it wrong. He didn't graduate the FIRST time around. He had to take an extra semester. My apologies.
I did see Constantine in Brel. Thought he did a nice job. Then I saw him in Rock. and thought he was terrible.
So we'll agree to disagree.

first off who cares if the entire teaching staff at BOCOnservatory dislikes him. Maybe its the entire teaching staff that is pompous and he is gentile. :)
I do not know the man but I saw him in Rock of Ages and he can sing. There is no denying the man can sing. And all he needs to do as an actor is stand there and be stupid as Drew and sing awesome 80's songs. This is not chekov people. And when he is done I am sure the producers will bring in Sebastian Bach, and all the other 80's rock stars so as to sell tix.
I say it once I say it a thousand times, this show is gonna be a big old hit.
Oh, please....GADS of students need to take an extra semester...or year.
That's not a "first time" around. He just didn't complete his course of study in the expected MINIMUM of time. Not unusual at all.
And even if he didn't graduate, what has that got to do with how much talent a person has? Not every one is suited for college.
Shall we list all the folks that make a fine living as actors/actressess/singer/other performers that never completed a college education?

What does that even mean? First time around? A lot of students need an extra semester or year to finish school. Also...how many students don't have a pompous attitude when they're in school? I would almost be concerned if they didn't.
A lot of artistic people struggle in school. So what if he struggled to finish school? He stuck with it and finished. That should be admirable....especially in the eyes of an educator.
I realize you said you teach at Boston Conservatory, but can you let us know where you were educated yourself? Did you finish in just four years? If you have a Masters and I'm assuming you do, since you're in higher education, did you finish that in 2 or 3 years? Did you enjoy ever single required class and never have disputes with any professors or the administration?
Charleston phrased it wrong is an understatement you said
" he was trained in musical theatre but he never even graduated. He failed his Senior year and dropped out."
That's not even lose to "not graduating first time around and having to take another semester"
Just sayin......
Also if you dislike him so much why did you see Brel and ROA? Did you see Weddin Singer and Jesus Christ Superstar as well?
Again, I have see him many times but I wouldn't consider myself a fan although I do enjoy his performances.
My thought's are that you may have attended BOCO when C was a student and now he is starting his 2nd Broadway show, and has done 2 off broadway shows while you teach at BOCO.....
As they saying goes those who can't ....teach....
Jealousy seems to be the motive here
Can we just keep this to bashing Charleston and leave the rest of us teachers out of it? Please don't condemn all of us!
"As they saying goes those who can't ....teach.... "
That saying is not true. Absolutely not. The reason why we teach is because we are good at what we're teaching, and we want to pass the knowledge on.
Okay, I am going to do something incredibly rare here on BWW...may want to print and laminate this as it may be February 30th before you ever see anyone do this again.
I am going to admit to a mistake and apologize.
Apparently, there's been a delay in getting the cast announcement out and yes, I'm now agreeing that it happening on a holiday *was* a bit odd.
Apologies to getting anyone's hopes up. I'm just as eager (if not more so) as anyone else.
Now back to your regularly scheduled flame war...

yes - big difference.
You teach WHAT???????????????
I wonder what name charleston will use next....or does he/she wait to get banned before chaging identity???
My apologies to all the teachers and professors, I didn't mean to offend.
I have the utmost respect for all teachers, as they are under paid and under valued.
Many of my friends are teachers.
I was just trying to get a point to someone who was coming off a bit too angry and jealous.
I a truly sorry if anyone took it personally it was not meant to be a blanket statement.
However, it is people like that who should not be teachers since they're only motive was to come here to bash someone else.
"Wow...February 30 will never come. "
Ding ding ding...ya got my sense of humor, Director :)
Thanks! LOL

Oh, Kev...I wasn't offended! I knew what you were getting at. I'm proud to be a teacher....I love what I do and I'm damn good at it! (And I'm pretty darn modest, too!)

Good teachers are the backbone of society. I don't want to believe that "Charleston" is really a teacher. How petty to come here and bash a former student of your school and attempt to spread false rumors. I agree that it sounds like jealousy talking.

I used to STRONGLY recommend Boston Conservatory to high school students and now...well...I might stop doing that.

My guess is no-

Constantine is a sweetie, fiercely loyal but doesn't suffer fools.
The snarky vs. wishing part of this thread was fun.
if they ever did bring Sebastian Bach to the cast, I might just have to take out a loan to attend as often as I'd like!!
How much of a delay on the announcement??? I thought for sure it would be coming out this week since rehearsals start on Thursday.
