How was it possible for today that we were able to buy 45 tickets to Mamma Mia & not Gypsy for THIS WEDNESDAY??
Has WICKED'S attendance gone that low before?
Yay for Spamalot being the greatest gainer this week!
I don't think so. This a relatively good week too.
Congrats 13 for an almost 15% increase in capacity!
At least mostly everything improved...
Everything goes up, including some high boosts like '13' and 'Poppins', yet Wicked goes down 4%.
Don't get it.
But fantastic week.

NGD, my guess would be a group cancelled for Mamma Mia and there weren't 45 tickets together for Gypsy, but I don't know.

Alot of New Jersey people were in the city this week
New Jersey Teacher's Convention calls for No School!
Although I am happy to see that there was a lot of increases this week, it still is pretty scary to see grosses this low. When Wicked and Jersey Boys are not selling out, it shows that people are holding back their money when it comes to things like live entertainment. It's scary being in this business right now.
Maybe the worst for Broadway is over, at least until January. Maybe the worst of the economy really IS over (who knows?). And Halloween may have had an impact on the prior week.
OR, maybe Obama really DID save Broadway!
Glad to see IN THE HEIGHTS back in the 80s%. Nice start for SHREK.
Only show I'm worried about is AUGUST: OC, but for a play with no names it has had a solid run. I wonder if they'll bring in a name to replace Estelle Parsons or just close the show. If Judy Davis wasn't working on THE STARTER WIFE, she would be ideal to play Violet Weston.

I'm happy for 13, and glad that the producers' faith and effort is being rewarded, if only slightly.

Maybe, if Spamalot continues to increase box office receipts, it'll extend???
I'm sad that this show is closing.
I don't view Estelle Parsons, John Cullum and Robert Foxworth as no names. Although it has had a great run without "stars" in the show.
You're right, should have used a different word. But by "names" I meant people who attract the tourist crowd ie Katie Holmes, Daniel Radcliffe, Denzel Washington, Julia Roberts, Julianne Moore, etc.
With Equus at 61% it doesn't seem that even a "name" like Daniel Radcliffe can bring people in right now.
YAY for Spring Awakening recovering.
"I wonder if they'll bring in a name to replace Estelle Parsons or just close the show. If Judy Davis wasn't working on THE STARTER WIFE, she would be ideal to play Violet Weston."
I don't think she'd want to jump the gun and undercut her performance as Violet in the film version of "A:OC" by playing the part briefly on Broadway.
It's been discussed at length on here but I'll repeat my thoughts on it.
There are SO many fabulous A-list celebrities who could really do a number on Violet Weston in A:OC. I hope they wrangle one in not only to stay open longer and sell more tickets but because there are a lot of legends who could really knock the role out of the park.
Now I see why ATOTC shuttered early.
I don't see Spamalot extending. Blithe Spirit is going in the Shubert starting Feb. 26.
