The week going INTO xmas is notoriously bad....people doing shopping, family stuff and getting ready. This week will be off the hook.

I was at Private Lives on monday: so very sad seeing such an empty theater. (I enjoyed the show.)

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Had a friend who tried to see godspell tonight, went to the box office around 7 thinking she wouldn't have a issue, totally sold out including premium seats and standing room.... (crazy)

Well, it was a holiday week -- many people were with family and not seeing a show on Saturday (one of the biggest ticket days of the week), or preparing for the holiday. Hopefully this week will make up for it.

Actually, if you look at how many shows only played 7 performances this week, it's not so bad at all. Lyssie J for example, while only up $9,000 over last week also had one fewer performance than last week.

I realize many shows may be showing what appears to be a significant drop due to one less performance, but that doesn't explain everyone's low numbers. There is no way a show such as Lysistrata Jones is covering its weekly costs while not even bringing in 20% of its potential gross. And if the producers did find a way to do that then they must have the most amazing (or shady) bookkeeping imaginable.

Jan 2012- The make it or break it month. Shame about LJ. I wasn't crazy about it, but I know people who LOVED it. I knew it was getting bad when I started getting emails for free tixs right after it opened :/

I do wonder how much steam Chinglish has left. It's been on a few significant top ten lists, but doesn't seem to be attracting an audience.

It's a shame, it's a smart show.

PRIVATE LIVES may very likely be going out with a bang...Last night's show was almost full save for one or two rows in each the orchestra and mezzanine
