Menagerie is a co-production with LCT and Rudin. So I don't think recouping is an issue.
That said- did anyone think this revival was going to be a sell out? We just had a hit Menagerie 3 years ago. Also, is Sally Field that much of a name? It seems like she's a name people know, but not one that necessarily has people reaching for their wallets, IMO.
Also, I'm never sure how these rules work but can Cats get nominated for scenic/costume design if John Napier won/was nominated for the original production?

Did he re-design the sets and costumes or is it a duplicate of the original, little_sally? I haven't seen it.
Remember they nominated Santo Loquasto for the Ragtime revival and awkwardly had to take it back.

WAITRESS had a rough week, and it's their lowest gross and capacity in the entire run. I'm not ringing the alarm bell yet, but I'm curious as to what caused the low numbers?
"
Jessie was out for a couple performances, I believe. She performed in Chicago last week.
"
No, Jessie was in the entire week. The previous week however when the numbers were much higher she was gone from Friday to Sunday, missing four shows...and yes she was in Chicago for a Sat night benefit I believe.
Bad weeks don't always have a real reason. Sometimes they are just bad weeks. I'm sure the cold and snow didn't help.

School of Rock has not been rocking' much!
I think everyone predicting the demise of any shows based on this week is a bit premature. Yes Cats was down right around the same amount as Phantom and School of Rock... With the snow storm on Thursday - it did knock a lot of people out of the city - and yesterday was a pretty icy day as well - which is reflected in all the numbers.
All that being said - fantastic, solid opening two weeks for Sunset Blvd. As someone mentioned, that number is 7 performances including Opening Night and Press Previews which are all comped. That's fantastic. So happy for ALW, Glenn and company

I say it every week. 'On Your Feet' and 'In Transit' should really just stop.
Its also upsetting In Transit has been longer than American Psycho was
Random comments:
School of Rock-most likely not a standard production structurally so recouping not only is unnecessary to announce but also probably not even an especially relevant metric since this is a corporate venture with several hands in the till.
Sunday-I think it is far from obvious it can recoup.
In Transit-no longer worth mentioning because no intelligent observations are possible.
Menagerie-Also far from obvious it can recoup, and far from obvious it will draw a crowd. I think we also need to learn to take Riedel's information from his patron with a grain of salt.
As others have said, most of the bad numbers aside from the deep pocket lunatics are meaningless on 2/13.
If DEH is till a tough ticket and Comet is down to 90% can we stop speculating as to the favorite of the two?

Yes, we can (and should). Clearly. I agree, South Florida.

Why the sudden Cats concerns? They've made money every week so far.

I think that, plus the much higher average ticket price for Dear Evan Hanson, clearly indicates that the latter is the hotter ticket at this point.
But "favorite" is subjective, and those statistics do not provide direct evidence about how much audience members like each show. A bunch of people could see a show based on its "hotness" but end up not liking it.
I don't mean to diss Dear Evan Hanson, which I very much liked at Second Stage. I wouldn't try to pick a favorite between the two because they're both excellent and so very different.
IN TRANSIT needs to go. Those grosses are sad and what's worse is they're prohibiting another show from coming in for the Spring.

I'd call it more pathetic than sad, but what show is it that you think is waiting for Circle? The proof is in the pudding and if there were such a show, the stop clause is obviously subject to invocation.
Does the Hudson Theater have standing room? It's great to see Sunday sold 100% on its first show. Given the gross potential is only 93.5% despite the 100% seats sold, that means a good number of tickets (worth around $9,500) were comp'd.

WOW- ATC reports that Hamilton makes up 15% of Broadway grosses for the week.

I think DEH is the hotter ticket (as said above), but I think Josh Groban missed 2 shows this week as well, so that could be why Comet was down to 90% in capacity.
And can't we just celebrate that both new shows are doing well??

How many seats are in the Music Box vs. seats at the Imperial counting on stage seating, etc?

Under normal conditions, you're certainly right. But this tureen of producers is unusually wealthy and powerful; the type who can pay to get the rules bent, if not changed. Why they would do so is a mystery; it seems like a lot of money and favors called in, merely to satisfy the whimsical ego of a bored wealthy housewife.
When it all blows over, I would be very entertained, I imagine, by a dishy exposé of the whole affair, like that making of No No Nanette book.

It's too late in the season for another show to take the Circle now anyway. Almost every spring show is in rehearsal.
@newintown, I am pretty sure there is no evidence that the producers or bribing Circle, or that there are any favors being called in. There is a very simple way to avoid the stop clause if money is no object, and that also has the salutary effect of making the grosses look less dire. I do not find it palatable to disparage housewives (or rich people, for that matter), and I seriously doubt you know about the lead producer's state of boredom. That all comes across as banal misogyny.
Perhaps, Hogan, perhaps. But, in the words of Nellie Lovett, "seems an awful waste."

Indeed it is.
