I suppose the rise was because of High Schools were off for spring break.
I'm so happy Gypsy is doing such solid business!

It says 8 there
and if that's the case I'm actually rethinking seeing it.

Posted: 4/28/08 at 7:22pmI don't understand how CRY BABY is only taking in rougly $200,000 but filling up the Marquis (which is by no means a small theater) to an 85% capacity... is it because of the $50 preview discounts?

Posted: 4/28/08 at 7:26pmGlad to see alot of show's grosses raise. What is up with Glory Days, is that really all they made after eight performances?

Posted: 4/28/08 at 7:31pmWow, total grosses for this week increased $2 million since last week, but holy crap CRY-BABY filled the Marquis to 85% and still only brought in 280,000!? Jeez, when your average ticket price is the same as rush prices (or less as with GLORY DAYS!!) then you have to know you are in serious trouble.

Posted: 4/28/08 at 7:44pmCome on, Spring Awakening. What's with the slump?

Posted: 4/28/08 at 8:11pmI love Spring Awakening, but it doesn't seem to have much staying power. On the other hand....Phantom? wow still knockin it out of the park after 20 years....a higher capacity than Lion King--wow!

Yes, Glory Days played 8 performances. It's obviously being HEAVILY comped.
I feel stupid for actually paying money to see it.

Wow!
Macbeth!
And who said Shakespeare was out of style?
(Actually, no one did, my bad. But still, congrats to Patrick Stewart, Kate Fleetwood & Co.)

YEAH! For A Chorus Line!!! That's more like it!!
And the reason for Cry-Baby's average ticket being so low is that they opened on Thursday. Opening performances are usually comp tickets. That, plus their $54 previews seats make for their really low average ticket.

Posted: 4/29/08 at 12:56amCry Baby opened this week. That could account for both a little higher attendence and a little lower average ticket price. Is there a fee for the opening night crowd or do the producers pick up the tab?

Posted: 4/29/08 at 1:51amGood news for Legally Blonde. When my first check on the new project comes in, I'm coming back to New York to see the show again. (Okay, and SP and Gypsy).
