about time...
not a bad week
in the heights really jumped!
Go Passing Strange!
And Phantom just keeps rolling along. . .
Strange that SA is in the 70s' for a show many were saying is like the second coming of RENT. . . ;o)
Also why isn't Gypsy a sell out with tickets going for hundreds of dollars? Can Patti not be such a draw...I mean after all her name is almost bigger then the title of the show . . .
The St. James is a pretty big theatre..and the last production of Gypsy was 4-5 years ago. There are a lot of theatre-goers who aren't planning on seeing it..pre-Tonys that is.
AUGUST keeps doing better and better. Now that they've moved to a smaller venue, the capacity is almost at 80%. The Music Box is obviously working for them.
I am happy for PS of course. Sunday night's performance was packed. I had to do standing room.
The 39 Steps is doing better than I expected them to do, which is great. Do you guys know if they balcony is open for them?

So thrilled ACA is still going strong...and keep on climbin', XANADU and AUGUST!
GYPSY is doing really good actually. It will go up after Tony time too.
I honestly don't think GYPSY will ever be a sell-out hit, has it ever? Maybe the double win by LuPone and Benanti will change that, but I just feel this isn't the kind of show that tourists are aching to see. I remember I dated an idiot once who told me he wanted to see GYPSY (back in '03/'04) because he was a Peters fan but that his friend told him it was sad so he decided not to see it; his favorite shows are MAMMA MIA and THE LION KING... Something tells me he is more representative of the avg. tourists than I'd like to think.
I am SOOOO happy for IN THE HEIGHTS and PASSING STRANGE, little shows that could. It's great to see minorities succeeding on the Great WHITE Way.
The summer season is underway. Most shows' numbers will only go up now.
It's interesting and encouraging that most shows had some slight to moderate bumps and no one show was in double digits so the love was spread around the town!
The balcony at the Cort Theatre is not open for 39 STEPS.

wow - i knew RENT would be doing well - but the last two months has been HUGE for the show. Do we see an extension of the extension? LOL
Its so annoying that Blonde is selling more tickets than most shows and making over half a million every week but its percentage is so low. They should have taken this show to a smaller theatre
I'm so happy to see A Catered Affair continue to do good business.
