BANDSTAND has been slowly inching higher each week. I'm interested to see if they can keep it going through the summer.

I agree about the Bandstand performance at the Tonys. I hope they make a smart choice, maybe not do a silly medley since they almost always fail to deliver and just do Welcome Home for example. I think Bright Star had a chance last year to get a boost from the performance. Their numbers had been creeping up slowly and all they needed was that little extra to get them there. But they picked the wrong song unfortunately... Fingers crossed it works out better for Bandstand!

I know it was slight, but was there any chance Hello Dolly's small dip was because of the few shows David Hyde Pierce was out? I mean the capacity is counted as the same, but potentially a couple (and I'm sure only a couple) of refunds here and there?

I'm not saying it won't happen, but why do y'all assume Bandstand will definitely perform at the Tonys? The only shows that get guaranteed slots are the nominated ones.

could the Hello Dolly drop be due to comps to Tony voters?

Tony Voter comps seem like a good explanation to me. There could have been around 236 voter comps (with a +1) that took say $300 seats. Given there are 800 voters that sounds about right thinking about the time left until the Tony Awards? (assuming all voters see the show after the nominations come out - I would think some would have seen it before?).
In any case, for shows that are doing well producers are definitely forking out large chunks of $$$ to participate in the Tony Awards.

For some musicals, medleys are effective and for some they don't make sense. As for Bright Star, I agree they picked the wrong song but at the same time, they wanted to showcase Carmen Cusack due to her Tony nomination. I liked Waitress's medley at the Tony's last year and thought it worked.
I really hope Bandstand can survive through the summer!

Its too soon. It had to have a decent advance, given preview business. Wait till the advance dries up.

I saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory tonight. I was dreading it because of all the stuff I read here. And I actually enjoyed it! I thought it was fun. Yes, the Chocolate Factory set with the chocolate river was awful because it looked like a diorama and should have been impressice. I thought the adults as children worked as the actors didn't look that old. And the crowd loved it!!! Have they been making improvements to the show?

I was thinking the same thing. I hope they do because I really enjoyed it when I saw it a couple of weeks ago.

True, the Waitress performance was fantastic but it was a small bit from one song and almost the entire She Used To Be Mine. The song could really shine. That's imo the problem with performances that mash together many (more than 2) songs, the whole thing feels rushed and the song can rarely really breath and move the audience.
