Gypsy isn't anywhere close to recouping right?

Nope. I suspect that even in its best weeks it has barely been making a profit.

I'm sure if they did/do recoup they'd announce that. Just by the bits and pieces I've read here and there I'm guessing it was somewhere in the $12-14 million area of recouping the $15 million it cost to capitalize.

The capitalization was only $15M? That is MUCH lower than I thought. Honestly, if they had the ability to ride out the rest of the summer, they probably could’ve recouped since the two main selling points are what won the awards
"

I agree. And from the past 2 weeks' grosses, it's clear the production didn't need Tom Francis to sell tickets. It only needed Nicole Scherzinger.

I'm pretty sure that none of the producers (including Jamie Lloyd) ever expected that Tom's name would drive ticket sales -- he was brought over because he was fantastic in the role.  He was also making significantly less than NS. In fact I wouldn't be at all surprised if a "Broadway name" (like Aaron Tveit or Jeremy Jordan) would command a higher salary than Tom was making.

I find it interesting that the biggest musical hit of the season appears to Be Just in Time.  Highest average ticket price in a more representative week (no movie stars in limited run engagements) and not a single empty seat since the first performance.  CITS is definitely a small theatre, but the stats are still very impressive.  Jonathan Groff is a serious Broadway star.  When Paul McCartney said he was writing a musical version of Its a Wonderful Life, I thought Gross would be a perfect George Bailey if it took awhile.  It has taken awhile, and I haven’t read anything about that show…I assume it will never happen, which is disappointing.

Gypsy should probably closed with Audra went on vacation.  The gross is hardly more than when Montego was in for her (at least the full week).

Interesting how the Tony barely helped Kimberly Alimbo, a small niche musical, yet it has solidified MHE, a small niche musical, into a genuine hit.  I would bet my (meta) money on it becoming the sort of hit that Hadestown has become, i.e., runs for years.  Great for them.

While DBH has proven it doesn't necessarily need its stars to succeed, nice to see it got a boost. Having the four main principals in Thursday, Friday and Saturday night, and Sunday matinee, had to have helped a bit.

Curious to see what this weeks' grosses look like. Simard is out all week (planned vacation) bur presumably Hilty will be in on reduced schedule and Williams/Seber will be in as well. I'm anxious to go back, but def want to see all 4 stars so might wait a bit longer until we get through the summer vacation period.
