Um.. Could I possibly be your agent friend in the business?
This developing relationship is almost as exciting as watching all these shows spiral downward into nothingness.
This week was not very pretty. Some mainstays seem like they might be on their last legs.
Looking at GTBBT and seeing 23.3% gross potential makes my brain hurt. Staying open with numbers like that defies logic. Their average paid ticket price is less then what I charge per hour for tutoring.

It looks like they might already have a developed relationship, but had no clue they're both on BWW.
BroadwayBear, are you a talent agent, press agent, or grizzly bear?

you need to raise your rates! seriously. ![]()
the gross potential is, as rehearsed weekly here, irrelevant. But keep popping tylenol for your brain because at least 3 and possibly 5 shows lost 6 figures this week and it looks like one of them may have lost more than it took in, which may be a record.
HOH and Gettin The Band is over. Somebody please call it. Jesus.
Pretty Woman is critic proof because of the built in audience worldwide. It's selling very well. That is the only thing that matters in a business such as Broadway.
Do we feel like we may have a Tuck Everlasting situation with HOH or GTBBT may have their final shows this upcoming Sunday? Likely not, but maybe an announcement from one or the other tomorrow evening?

Maybe just the advance? Saw a formula about it the other day. https://www.forbes.com/sites/marchershberg/2018/08/23/algorithm-predicts-ugly-future-for-pretty-woman/#76f3b8c549ce

That would probably be the best thing but we are talking about Ken Davenport in one case. His ego won't allow it.

I am just a simple bear of the homosexual variety.
Head Over Heels and GTBBT need to announce a closing already. Their numbers will only be worse in a few weeks. And Kinky Boots, Beautiful, Waitress and OOTI all seem destin to close in January. Just a matter of announcements being made.

Nowadays critics have been more wrong than right. We see so many shows dying even after rave reviews. And the opposite is true. I remember reading disgusting bad reviews about Mean Girls and look where they’re now. Saw Pretty Woman here in Chicago and they literally took our city by storm. Never seen anything like it. And I never got why the critics went so viciously after them (perhaps fear it might succeed like MG?) Plus, unlike what the critics said, we, the audience, is sophisticated enough to know this is just a fictional story.
Anyway, I only saw the Chicago version of PW, but my girlfriend saw both (Chicago and NY) and she loved Andy Karl as Edward. She said he was just dreamy and his voice, amazing. She didn’t like Steve Kazee as she thought he was too low energy for Edward, but according to her, with Mr. Karl, there was a 360 shift and it was for the better.
My girlfriend feels like this cast is very solid, and after seeing all the other shows, she believes they have strong chances for Tony nominations. The main cast is just too likable and make the audience appreciate so much how hard theater actors work compared to other venues (like TV and films). Adaptations are difficult because you already have the expectations from the original fans but also the scrutiny of comparison with the source material. Also, the ensemble cast is great too. If the Tony committee decides to open a category for best ensemble, IMOHO the PW ensemble should be considered as well.
Why does Pretty Woman have a built in audience, but all the other failed movie-to-musicals didn't have a built in audience?

Pretty Woman has earned something of a cult status over the years as the film that made Julia Roberts a star. It’s also a ubiquitous presence on cable television on the weekends (like Dirty Dancing or one of those movies). People may be coming for the sheer curiosity of how it translates to stage, but also know that it’s a form of “popcorn theatre”, checks all the boxes without making the audience think too much

To Kill a Mockingbird.
Thanks. I hope that's good. Love Jeff Daniels.

But it was very well sold before it opened, so word of mouth and the critical drubbing will only affect the advance past the point of people who bought tickets early, so it's too soon to tell. Are people loving it and telling friends? Are people reading reviews and doubting whether to buy tickets? We don't know. But it was fairly well sold for a few weeks out, so I don't think there are any tea leaves to read yet.

Hmmmmm...David is that you!?
If you're an agent represent me! ha.
And I haven't seen Pretty Woman on TDF ever, so that says something at least. They didn't have to paper or anything. Who knew that'd be the hit of the fall.

Doubt it would be anytime soon. He's got tour dates scheduled until April of 2019.
