They covered the Best Revival of a Musical race today.

FRONTRUNNERS: Follies and Porgy & Bess

"Which is exactly my point. We all work hard to do what we do and get no attention. That's not fair at all."

A lot of hard work in society is thankless.

When you walk into a house designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, do you remark on how great the plumbing is? Do the sous chefs of any famous chef get recognition?

No one is denying the quality and amount of work, but if you're looking for attention it isn't the field.

The revival of a musical nominations are by far the easiest ones to forecast. I was hoping they would do featured performances in plays or leading actresses in musicals, neither of which they have done yet.

Apparently they did Featured Actress in a Musical a few days ago and nobody picked up on it? I think they forgot to publish it to the home page.

Interesting that they think Elaine Paige is a lock. I would swap her with Da'Vine, putting her as a lock and Paige "in the mix".

I loved Paige's performance. Da'Vine was very good, and I'd have her in there as well.

I'd probably put Paige, Da'Vine, Kara Lindsay, Judy Kaye and Jessie Mueller in there.

I'd like to see Melissa Van Der Schyff get the nod, personally, but that show did so poorly that I know it's a long shot. But, she was so amazing. (I hope she gets another role soon.)

I have a hard time not seeing NaTasha Yvette Williams and/or Nikki Renee Daniels being nominated for Porgy and Bess. I think the former is more likely.

Wow, I'm really surprised they don't think Terri White has a shot.

She stopped the show when I saw it.

....but the world goes 'round

I wonder if they might petition one of the gentlemen from Peter into leading.

I think Jones and Borle are definitely strong contenders.

I have a feeling they might try to petition Adam into Leading. I also would count Jeremy Shamos as a lock before Andrew Garfield.

I also think it's sad Terri White isn't getting more buzz/notice. She was divine in the role and elevated a song that I think can easily be one of the weaker ones in the score into a show stopping spectacular.

Agreed that Terri White deserves some attention. I was not a fan of FOLLIES to say the least, but her number was one of the highlights, for sure. In fact, I thought White, Paige, and Houdyshell gave the three best performances in the show. I thought Maxwell, while good, gave a very overrated performance. Honestly, I thought the production was a bore overall, but I'm clearly in the minority there.

Featured Actress in a Play:

This is the first one that I feel is spot on. The three frontrunners are essentially locks to be nominated. I'm expecting the other two nominees to be Spencer Kayden and either Angela Lansbury or Candice Bergen (who's not even on the list).

I think it will be Spencer Kayden and Angela Lansbury in the other two spots. I think Light is going to win-and deservedly so.

I think Light is winning for sure and I'll be very surprised if Lansbury doesn't get the nom.

I would LOVE to see Condola Rashad get a nomination. She was fantastic in STICK FLY. And she looked even better because every other actor in that play gave performances ranging from mediocre to cringe-inducingly bad.

But I agree it'll probably be Keenan-Bolger, Lansbury, Kayden, Light, and Emond.

Does Lansbury really deserve a nomination simply because she's Lansbury? I really did not think she did anything to merit award consideration in The Best Man.

Of course not. But I'm almost positive it'll happen. She pretty much took one of the Best Featured Actress in a Play slots the second she was announced for the show. She didn't have to do anything but show up to get nominated. But I agree. And I think the same goes for James Earl Jones, who will certainly get nominated. He screamed his lines, mumbled half of them, didn't know a handful of them, and he'll get nominated just because he is who he is.

The fact that she's Lansbury certainly won't hurt her chances, but she got great reviews and I don't see why would she be unworthy of a Tony nom.

Revival of a Play:

I think Master Class was too long ago to be remembered. I think the third spot will be Wit, while the 4th spot will be Don't Dress for Dinner if the reviews are decent and Streetcar if they're not.

Best Actress in a Musical:

http://www.broadway.com/buzz/161480/going-for-2012-tony-gold-handicapping-the-race-for-best-actress-in-a-musical/

The last two spots are going to Kelli and Elena, with Bernadette potentially sneaking into Elena's spot.
