No. No. No. "What I Did fro Love" works because of the beauty in its simplicity. Glottal on every damn note? Yuck!
Not to mention she was flat in the middle.
Wait, this is fantastic. Stritch is the best.

Idina improved greatly in her second song.
I'm getting tired of the "salty" Elaine schtick.
Stritch is the REAL DEAL!
Not even the great Nathan Lane could wake that audience up.. but Stritch got a pulse!
So far...
Elaine Stritch "Broadway Baby" and "I'm Still Here"
Some 12 year old girl :Gimme, Gimme"
Brian D'Arcy James "Blue Skies"
Audra McDonald "Can't Stop Talking About Him" and "Hapiness is a Thing Called Joe"
Nathan Lane and Brian D'Arcy James "Free"
Chad Kimball "crappy song from Memphi
Tonya Pinkins "Noah Go to Sleep"
Idina Menzel "Defying Gravity" and "What I Did for Love" accompanied by Marvin Hamlisch
Karen Olive and West Side Cast "America" (Olivo did not dance)
It's been a fabulous evening,
Gah. She messed up.
seriously how does she survive 8 shows a week in ALNM????? lol
OMG ELAINE STRICH...way to keep fighting for it though.
OH SH*T!!!
Elaine Stritch! Even when she screws up she is better than the rest at their best!
Elaine has completely flubbed up. She worked it out though, only she could mess up that bad and still come out well.

Oh Elaine Stritch, I adore you. I cried when she went up on the lyrics.
And shut up Candice. I hope you can find the lyric, or even the way home at her age.

Candice, she doesn't. She's being prompted there every night too.
I wonder why they haven't brought in a teleprompter for ALNM. It would be far less invasive and distracting then prompts from the wings.

Wow, Elaine. I'm surprised she's on the bill; isn't one full show enough?
Keep on truckin'!
This is the best performance of the night. Absolutely legend. Who the hell wants to see a perfectly polished and rehearsed and boring song. This is real theatre. I love Stritch. BRAVA.
I wonder if they'll just cut that for the television broadcast?
I didnt mean it in a bad way Mildred, I CERTAINLY hope im still kicking it like that at her age. She is very charming, I was only observing that it must be a struggle for her, her senility is clearly a struggle for her. She is absolutely deserving of the role, and the opportunity, shes a legend.
She earned that standing O!
She deserves a drink!

She's incredible!!!
But it's not real theatre, it's a filmed performance at the White House for the president. This is on par with the awkwardness of Marilyn Monroe singing Happy Birthday.

this is heartbreaking. im in tatters
Marilyn Monroe singing Happy Birthday... yes- LEGEND!
That last speech was fantastic and honest and charming.
Holy crap, I love her!
Love Elaine!
