I am going to share with you guys what I thought about the shows I've seen that are currently running on Broadway/Off Broadway. Feel free to discuss and post any disagreements.
-A View From The Bridge(9/10) Arthur Miller's fabulous play is a winner! Liev Schreiber's perfomance is thrilling.
-A Little Night Music(8/10) was maybe Sondheim's most charming musical. Trevor Nunn directs this elegant piece with a cast to die for. Catherine Zeta Jones doesn't dissappoint as Desiree, her performance is perfection. The rest of the cast is filled with great and talented singers.
-Billy Elliot(7/10) it was enjoyable, but I prefer the movie.
-Bye Bye Birdie(9/10) I loved it. I can't say anything negative about this production. A great time at the theatre. John Stamos is wonderful, Bill Irwin might not be the best singer, but he sure can act! The Tony winner shines in this production. The teenagers in the show exude energy.
-Chicago(8/10) very clever musical by Kander & Ebb.
-Fela!(3/10) was very different from anything I've seen, but I was very bored towards the end.
-Finian's Rainbow(9/10)is a classic full of magic. A must see. My favorite new show and revival of the season.
-Hair(9/10) well deserved Tony Award. It's the symbol of an era. Let the sunshine in!!! Wonderful and full of energy.
-Jersey Boys(6/10) it was somehow enjoyable. The plot is so so.
-Mamma Mia!(7/10) Fun and fluff.
-Mary Poppins(4/10) It had nothing new to offer. And a show for kids should never be almost 3 hours too-long!
-Memphis(6/10) this new musical might win several Tonys...a must see!
-Next to Normal(3/10)my 2 friends and me really didn't enjoy this show.
-Rock of Ages(8/10) not the best show I've ever seen, but a very enjoyable show filled with classic 80's tunes. A lot of fun!
-South Pacific(8/10) Great musical, a little long. Otherwise I'd give it a 10.
-The Lion King(1/10) It felt like a circus more than a Broadway musical. Sorry fans of the show.
-The Phantom of the Opera(6/10) A great score by Andrew Lloyd Webber.
-Time Stands Still(10/10), perfection has been made into a play. Several witty lines that will make you go through all kinds of emotions in 2 hours. Laura Linney is a force of nature. Brian D'Arcy James is always flawless and Alicia Silverstone suprises with her comedic timing in this terrific play by Donald Margulies and a solid direction by Daniel Sullivan.
-West Side Story(10/10) Amazing. One of the best scores and coreographies I've ever seen. My favorite.
-Wicked(6/10) Good score, but not the best musical by any means.
-Wishful Drinking(2/10) I could probably relate more to anyone bitching about their lives, if they were middle class and had real jobs like we all do.
Off
-Altar Boyz(1/10) Just didn't care for it. Seemed like a concert. The plot is basically unexistant.
-Avenue Q(3/10) Not my kinda show.
-Stomp(1/10) Didn't enjoy it.
-The Fantasticks(10/10) A wonderful piece of musical theatre.
-The Understudy(3/10) Great acting, but very poor material.
I want an explanation for Lion King receiving your lowest rating??

Oh God...
Why is South Pacific being graded on a scale of 20? Is production of that show really more involved that it needs a more detailed scale?
Wow your tastes in shows is so different from mine.

I just edited the post, it was full of typos and stuff. Hope I answered your question.
Oh, my heart hurts at the "Next to Normal" rating

From your list, I've seen (recently enough to rate):
Chicago: 6- I love the show itself, but the production was so minimalist it seemed chintzy.
Mamma Mia: 8- I really enjoyed the show, and the cast's acting made me forget I was watching a stringed-together plot, and the singing was lightyears better than the OLCR and film.
Mary Poppins: 9- the first time I saw the show was absolutely magical and I was embarassed at how much I enjoyed it.
South Pacific: 10- an incredible production, cast, and score. If anything, I wish it were even longer!
Phantom: 10- I love this show. I just do. I love everything about it and hope it really does run forever.
West Side Story: 9- I love this show, too, and thought the dancing and acting were fantastic, but I was a little disappointed by the vocals of some of the minor roles.
Wicked: 9- I liked this show a lot more than I expected to, and Julia Murney and the rest of the cast was incredible in every way.
Ave Q: 7- I saw this on Broadway, but I can't imagine it being much different off. It was very funny, but I can't quite figure out what disappointed me- I think there was just some sort of lack of chemistry or something among the cast when I saw it.
Fantasticks: 9- it's simply a great, innovative show, and the cast I saw was wonderful!
"-Wishful Drinking(2/10) I could probably relate more to anyone bitching about their lives, if they were middle class and had real jobs like we all do."
Not sure how old you are but if the show is close to the book, which i read, it helps to know about the people she is talking about and what she went through. I found the book to be very good and very, sarcastically, funny. JMO
-Billy Elliot(10/10) This musical blew me away. One of the best pieces of theatre I have ever seen.
-Chicago(10/10) Pure broadway. I love the simplicity of the production and I hope this show runs for a long time.
-Jersey Boys(10/10) Another one of my favorites. I love the music and how gracefully the story moves.
-Mamma Mia!(6/10) A fun show, but other than that there's not much going for it.
-The Lion King(8/10) Great musical, but not my favorite
-The Phantom of the Opera(10/10) I have seen it 7 times and would see it again and again and again. It is an incredible piece of theatre. Nothing else like it.
-Wicked(2/10) My least favorite musical. I think this show is beyond overrated. the design, costumes, and lyrics are all just atrocious in my opinion.
jon, I was going to say you are just like Paula Abdul, until the last review of Wicked. Thanks for sharing!
"wait.. i'm confussed about this. :/"
If I can help you in any way so you can figure it out, let me know. I'm here to help!
"What even is this ****?"
Are you looking at a mirror?
"Wow your tastes in shows is so different from mine"
Good, that was the purpose of this. If I agreed with everyone, I wouldn't post stuff.
"Oh, my heart hurts at the "Next to Normal" rating"
Did you get to see the show Spider?
"RAGTIME 10/10"
I haven't seen this version, no interest, but I trust your review.
bundy: of course I am entitled! Thanks.
bwaylvsong: you HAVE to see Finian's Rainbow. You'd love it. I agree about what you say about Chicago.
uncaged: well, that was just a comment, I have never enjoyed a one person show in my life, I shouldn't have gone. But I took advantage of the US$ 10 promotion, even 10 bucks was too much!!! Haha.
Since I am bored...
Out of those
-Billy Elliot (6/10) Just not the greatest show.
-Chicago (10/10) Great production of a fantastic show. Depends on the cast.
-Finian's Rainbow (8/10) Lovely production. Though not personal favorite, I can understand all of the praise.
-Memphis (4/10) Thought it was pretty bad. Features some nice choreography and good voices.
-Next to Normal (9/10) Despite its fans, the show is a wonderfully emotion experience.
-South Pacific (9/10) What is there to say? It's simply stunning.
-West Side Story (8/10) People know where I stand. Karen Olivo is an absolute must-see. But I recognize the production does have weaknesses.
-Wicked (6/10) Mindless entertainment.
-Wishful Drinking (7/10) Hilarious.
Avenue Q (7/10) - On Broadway. Great fun.

Yeah I *cough cough* saw it *cough cough*
Did you even bother paying attention when you saw Altar Boyz, bro? It IS a staged concert...
"The show is presented in real time as a concert, the last concert of their national "Raise the Praise" tour, by the five-member group the Altar Boyz and their band. Four of the group's members, Matthew, Mark, Luke and Juan, are apparently named after the authors of the four canonical Christian Gospels. The fifth member is Abraham, who, the group explains in the show's opening number, is openly Jewish. The members of the group address the audience directly and refer to the venue and location in which the performance is taking place. The Altar Boyz perform several songs, with choreographed dancing in the style of boy bands, and present several scenes concerning the group and its origins, as well as each member's strengths and demons, as part of the concert.
During the show, the Altar Boyz repeatedly turn to a machine on the stage, the "Soul Sensor DX-12," which has a display that they explain shows the number of burdened souls in the theatre. Their goal, they explain, is to reduce the number on the machine to zero by the end of the concert.
Although many of the lines and lyrics in the show are susceptible to humorous or satirical interpretations, as is common in satire the performers do not acknowledge such double meanings in their performances."

Most of the time Wiki isn't credible, but this explanation is correct.
"-Altar Boyz(1/10) Just didn't care for it. Seemed like a concert. The plot is basically unexistant."
Hey smartie, it's NONEXISTANT.
And it's supposed to be a concert. It's a play within a concert within a show basically. Sorry that it was too complex for you to understand - G'Damn, who are you??

Wow Next To Normal you hated but Mamma Mia you liked
I think he starts these threads just to stir the pot. It's no secret that his tastes vary wildly from most people (he hated Patti Lupone GYPSY, thinks Brooke Shields is better than Donna Murphy, etc etc). Just read it and shrug it off...don't take any of it seriously.
Welcome to NYC, muscle23ftl!
*turns up the boil on the pot*
No matter what his opinions in the original post, he's right about LuPone and Shields.
WithoutATrace - I hated Patti LuPone GYPSY, too. I hated her and thought she was awful. But, I've said that since day one.
