re: Broadway performer's hometowns

I was born in manhattan and lived there until I was about 7. I unfortunatley now live in westchester, the only other person I know from westchester is Jonathan Larson. It seems everyone who is from ny is either from the city or long island.

Sherie Rene-Scott is from Kansas!
I wish I'd known that when I spoke to her at DRS - I wonder if she's from the same city as me.

hmm. Austin Miller from the Hairspray tour, Tommy Tune, and Dequina Moore from Little Shop are all from Houston! There is this thing here called the "Tommy Tune Awards" which are like the Tonys but for Houston highschools and Tommy Tune goes to all of them and judges. I hope my highschool wins something this year!

Fellow Long Islanders:

Patti LuPone (Northport)

Rosie O'Donnell (Commack)

Billy Crystal (Baldwin)

Isabella Rosellini (Bellport)

Alec Baldwin and his brothers (Massepequa)

Glenn Close has spent a few summers in Bellport (she looks ghastly when she does her grocery shopping without makeup!)

I can't think of any actual BROADWAY performers who are from the San Francisco area -- help? re: Broadway performer's hometowns I'm sure this is really obvious, but not to me.

(The only ones I can think of are currently touring or who have toured in the past, but not made it to Broadway.)

Sutton Foster lived 30 min from me. Then she and Hunter moved. But they lived near where I live for some time before they moved to Michigan. It´s cool since she´s one of my faves right now.

Well I'm from LA but now live in NYC, and I know Eden Espinosa and Stephanie J. Block are from Cali. and I think maybe Aaron Lohr (sp?) he went to UCLA ( yay!) but I'm not sure he is originally from LA.
The theatre is one of the most expressive and useful instruments for the edification of a country; it is also the barometer which makes its greatness or its descent. A theatre which is sensitive and well oriented in all its branches from tragedy to vaudeville can in a few years change the sensibilty of the people; theatre which has been destroyed, in which cloven hooves take the place of wings, can put to sleep an entire nation. A people that does not aid and encourage its theatre is moribund if not dead; the theatre which does not gather to itself the best of society, of history, the drama of its people and the genuine color of its landscape and its spirit, with laughter or tears, does not deserve to call itself theatre, but rather a place for that horrible thing which is called killing time.- Federico Garcia Lorca

Chayanne Jackson (spelled that wrong) is from somewhere in Washington, though I don't remember where. Shoshana Bean is from Oregon which is pretty close. Chad Kimball went to my high school and still visits and talks with us when he's in town. Noah Racey also went to my high school.

re: Broadway performer's hometowns

I went to high school in Lawrence, Kansas. Lawrence High has a few Broadway alumni that I know of:

Lorenzo Fuller (the OBC of "Kiss Me Kate," he's the original singer of "Too Darn Hot")

Jane Bodle (a few classes ahead of me---from Cats, Les Miz, Me and My Girl, Sunset Blvd. and Miss Saigon)

Patricia Garland (the original Judy from A Chorus Line)

...and me own Mum! (two Broadway plays)

...and some non-Broadway notables also went to my high school: Langston Hughes, Erin Brockovich, Paul Coker Jr. (who created many of the Rankin-Bass holiday characters we know and love), several major sports folks, etc. It's a school known for overachievers. Others from Lawrence include Delbert Mann (Oscar-winning director) and "Beaver's dad" Hugh Beaumont!
