Posted: 4/27/12 at 1:16pmWhy do people keep creating threads bashing shows? And why are they all pathethic?

Posted: 4/27/12 at 1:20pmWe are just so much smarter than the poor people who tried to make a good show and just couldn't. But we are just so much better than them, cause we just make snide remarks and try to make these people's bad week even worse cause we were affronted by their EVIL attempt at not creating the perfect show. Let us applaud ourselves.

Yep, Brooke is the savior of Broadway... just look what she did for On the Town and Addams Family. Those ran for YEARS and YEARS!
But maybe you're on to something. From what I can summize from other's reviews they might have been a good match - the show is flat and so is her singing.
Actually, I have nothing against Brooke, and I've not got an opinion of LOF since I haven't seen it.

Posted: 4/27/12 at 1:58pmWasn't the current actress in this role referred to as "dry cleaning" in a review? I couldn't remember her name or her characters name. Brooke may not be all that great but she would have been an improvement. It's a shame Fierstein had prior commitments.

"Summize"
My way of combining "surmise" and "summarize"

Posted: 4/27/12 at 2:07pmBy the way, Brooke Sheilds replaced Donna Murphy in WONDERFUL TOWN, not On the Town -- same composer, lyricists, librettists choreographer -- BUT different show.

"By her own admission Brooke knew she was wrong for the show."
I found this a fascinating admission by a leading lady...so much so I think it's a lie. The part sucks, not matter how "good" she may have been the part still sucks and she would have been ripped a new one last night.

Posted: 4/27/12 at 2:18pmBrooke Shields was the least of the show's problems in LA, and her performance was fine. It seemed like the producers were unfairly trying to pin the blame on her, but nonetheless it worked out better for her in the long term. She dodged a bullet.

Brooke Shields not only claimed that the Los Angeles run of LEAP OF FAITH was difficult for her but she genuinely admitted that though she has ALWAYS dreamed of creating a role for Broadway, she fully has embraced the reality that she can only replace other actors who already have blueprinted a role.
She admitted to being aware that she's a passable singer; a passable dancer; and can only add her touch to a role that someone else has already finely tuned. She has said the originating actor has already gone thru the workshops and the previews to get 'it' right, so all she has to do is learn what they already have done and add her own to it, etc. Creating a role on Broadway is no longer on her Bucket List.

It was a bit of a letdown actually. I was hoping for Alain Ducasse but got Korean deli prepared food bar.
Brooke, you need a better agent!

The show's various problems have nothing to do with the leading lady and Jessica Phillips is perfectly fine, Brantley's comment about 'dry cleaning" notwithstanding. Brooke might have been perfectly fine as well, or maybe she wouldn't.... but it wouldn't have made any difference.

Posted: 4/28/12 at 11:33amI think Brooke was smart to bail, there was nothing redeeming about this show, except for the intermission which aloud me to leave. If she would have stayed she would have sank with the rest of them. I have lost my respect for every critic who gave this show a good review, The only award this show deserves is the biggest turkey for 2011-2012, even over on a clear day....at least that show had good songs and Harry Connick singing.
