Brooklyn Is It a Paradise or Paradice?

Hefty is made for trash. Trash only. Not a fine singer like Ramona Keller.
She really should be cast in Dream Girls. The woman has a voice.
I was really impressed with her!
I don't think it will get any Tonys! But the women in the show do sing with passion.

Al,
I guess we'll see... I thought the costumes were quite clever... then again, La Cage is opening next month...

Posted: 10/5/04 at 10:23amRamona Keller is a true talent but it's being wasted in this show and in a garbage bag, no less.

Posted: 10/5/04 at 10:26amIt's a little early to make those Tony predictions. For costumes, though I haven't seen the designs, I would expect that William Ivey Long will be pulling out the stops on La Cage aux Folles. (Theoni Aldredge took home a Tony for her designs on the original production). And in the Best Actress race, I've only heard wonderful things about Victoria Clark in Light in the Piazza, who reportedly has a career-defining role in that show.

Well cornie, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I walked out at intermission of Avenue Q.
Ps I see about 15 shows a year, and BKLYN makes my top 3

Posted: 10/5/04 at 10:38amI love the scene when Brooklyn and the other cats climb out of the trash when the tire spaceship comes down, it's craptacularski!

Broadwayfan,
Not to completely discredit you, but BKLYN makes your top 3, and you WALKED out of Avenue Q? Something is indeed wrong here :)

Posted: 10/5/04 at 11:09amI think the show was excellent. The critique of the garbage as costumes is completely off. The costumes fit wonderfully with the point of the show. The characters were all street players putting on a show for spare change, beggers if you will. The garbage was all that these homeless street players could dig up to use as costumes in their performance. If the costumes were elaborate, it wouldn't have fit with the point of the show, as people would be questioning where the homeless street players came up with the money to buy such costumes. I think the costumes were brilliant. Sure the characters of Brooklyn and Paradice were famous singers, but portrayed by homeless people.

You left Avenue Q in intermission.
What are you high?
Wish I could have seen the second half. I am having major Avenue Q withdrawl.
IT SUCKS TO BE ME.

Posted: 10/5/04 at 11:48amHello! It's called a concept, people. "Women are trash!" Is that what they are trying to say? Or perhaps "this show belongs in the dumpster?"

The singing is great. Paradise it is not.
But it really would make a great concert at Joe's Pub.
Hey Jaime!

My my my my my my my.
Isn't Corine being this snarky and, quite frankly, beautifully bitchy about this show a sign of the apocalypse??
Corine, I'm buying you a box of white chocolates to feed to your lover as a gesture of thanks...you made my day, bitch!
And Eddie Varley is even getting his bitch on!
Guess even he doesn't want to stick his nose up the ass of Brooklyn...or BKLYN!
