Not a good season for Roundabout?
Wishful Drinking- Great critical and audience response. If there was a special event category this show would have won.
Sondheim on Sondheim- Great critical response, good audience response
Everyday Rapture- AMAZING critical response, audiences seem to be loving it.
The Glass Menagerie- Good critical response, audiences mixed but it sold well.
Present Laughter- Good critical response, audiences mixed.
I would say it was a actually a good year for Roundabout. Not amazing, but pretty good.

I laughed out loud when I read this threat title.
Dreadfully shocked, indeed.

May I respectfully point out that Roundabout shows that seemed to gather the best critical and audience response were NOT Roundabout productions, but shows they pulled in from elsewhere:
Wishful Drinking
The Glass Menagerie
Everyday Rapture

PRESENT LAUGHTER was also brought in from Huntington Theatre Company.

I think Roundabout had a great season. I agree that Wishful Drinking would probably won if we still had the "Best Theatrical Event" award.
However, would Everyday Rapture have been considered for 'Best Musical" if the "Best Theatrical Event" award was sill given?

Posted: 5/4/10 at 9:47amI just lately prefer Roundabout's "risks" when they're outsourced. When they come from in-house we get HEDDA GABLER.

Posted: 5/4/10 at 10:33amBut I think GODOT was sadly that rare production of theirs lately that just "worked". I agree it was a highlight of last season for me, too!
