I just wanted to thank whoever first posted this link to the old Telecharge site, which seems to still work perfectly - - unless you have a discount code. I haven't found a way to enter it. But if you're buying regular-price tickets, you can avoid that wicked new system. I had to search for this, and only knew to search because I'd seen it here once, so thought it was worth posting again:

If you're using a discount code, broadwayoffers.com is a good site to use. It operates with the old Telecharge system, and has yet to give me trouble since the switch.

Posted: 7/6/13 at 10:07pmThanks! I guess I've clicked through BroadwayBox and doing it that way I always get the horrid new system.

Posted: 7/6/13 at 10:51pmThe new telecharge is working for me....finally. I really like that I can preview all the available seats just like on ticketmaster.

Posted: 7/6/13 at 11:58pmTHANK YOU for this!!! Besides the "choose your seats" option, which doesn't even work properly 90% of the time, I can't stand the new Telecharge. Definitely bookmarking this page!

Posted: 7/7/13 at 12:09amI am just curious, why people just don't go to the box office directly and save the transaction fees altogether?

Posted: 7/7/13 at 12:10amNormally I do, but if I can't, or if I'm buying tickets for someone else who doesn't mind the processing fees, or even if I'm just looking to see what seats are left for a performance, I usually use Telecharge. And their new site is an absolute wreck.

Posted: 7/7/13 at 12:19amOIC, I have done that in the past. I guess it was the old site. Check out what tickets I want and then ride the 4 stops to the Theater and buy the tickets I want directly through the BO.

re: why not just go to the box office?
I don't live in NYC.... come up for the weekends whenever possible. I used to do more planning ahead so that I could buy tickets in advance at the box office, but these days I usually end up doing it online.

Maybe because the box office is a little further than four subway stops? Like pacificnorthwest I don't live in NYC - I don't even live in New York State. I don't like going to the city without already having tickets. Not when a train ticket is $30 round trip. I don't want to get there and not be able to get what I want.

Posted: 7/7/13 at 3:11amI'm pretty sure I couldn't have bought my Richard III tickets if I'd just showed up at the Belasco last month asking for them, but hey, I'm one of those weirdos who lives 300 miles from the city. I could be wrong.

I don't live in NYC or in the tri-state area. So when I go to NYC, I plan in advance.
Telecharge needs to hire a user experience team. Yes, having the choose your own seat option is nice, but I'd give that up to go back to the more user-friendly option.

Traveling from Vegas to NYC a few times a year, I am willing to pay the transaction fees to ensure that I get good seats to my preferred plays in advance. After all, I'm paying a bundle for airfare and hotels, and usually the entire purpose of the trip is to go to the theatre, so from my perspective the fees are nominal.
I'm getting used to the new Telecharge, and I like being able to see the available seats. But it bugs me to have to enter the Captcha code so often. Telecharge needs to find a better way to control the ticket-bots.

Did everyone just find the way to find better seats by using both websites at once? I just did it and it was great.
I'm sorry, but after all these years of abuse I don't feel bad about this.

I too am from NJ and it takes me about 1 1/2 to 2 hours to travel in. After an experience of just trying to wing it at the last minute and it not being a great experience, I definitely prefer to have my tickets ahead of time.
I don't even care about the seating chart on telecharge now. That site is so difficult to maneuver. Like if you want cheaper seats, that has been a pain in the ass to figure out.
