I’m seeing a screening of this on Tuesday and will report back with my thoughts. Do not have high hopes.
friend was at the junket...
they haven't finished the a lot of cgi(the final scene was shown with the cast in front of a green screen)... they then told them that they have 3000 people working on it in order to get it finished by next week lol

So now we'll be told that we can't judge it by the trailer, because that's not finished (despite the trailer's sole purpose being to convince us that it is worth seeing), and we also can't judge it when we see it in the theatre because they were rushed and didn't have time to finish it properly. Now you can't judge it until the Blu Ray release when you can finally see the truly finished product.
Just saw the second trailer this evening with Memory playing behind it. Liked it much better. Interesting that this was not the first trailer. Maybe they wanted to go for Swift fans first.

On the Graham Norton Show, they showed a clip of Judy Dench speak-singing The Invitation of the Jellicle Ball, which is interesting https://youtu.be/gFm_NtR7aQs?t=425
Going to an advanced screening on Tuesday, so I'll be sure to share ALL of my thoughts. lol.
I'm curious if anyone has been able to deduce what Taylor Swift is singing about in the song "Beautiful Ghosts?" Anyone who knows the context of the Broadway show able to provide some guesses as to how it will fit into the plot?

The song will be sung by Victoria (Francesca Hayward) in the film and it’s really just about her longing for a sense of belonging and wondering if she will ever live out her glory days. The “beautiful ghosts” refer to the days gone by that can look back on fondly in her later years. In the stage show the character of Victoria doesn’t sing so this is essentially becoming that characters “introduction song” like all the others have.

I wouldn't be surprised if the film starts to inform the stage productions going forward.

A declaration like this is incredibly premature.

Which glory days? She seems to be very young...
its supposed to he after memory (so they have said) its more of a "at least you got a full life to look back on, i have nothing, but hope now that i have been accepted into the tribe i will male memories of my own."
I though this was quite straight forward
also its more or less all about victoria and her perspective as an outsider being let into the tribe and learning all about the ball and what its all about, that why she is in almost every scene with each song.

Given what all of us have seen in the trailers?
Premature or not, I'll stand by it, thank you.
I think this will only happen if the movie were to become insanely popular. The change of making Victoria the central character is an interesting change, but probably done just to give the movie more of a plot. and for a show thats been running since 1980 in some form or another, it seems unlikely to change. I am also not sure how in the stage show it would be placing that new song right after the show's most famous song, it would totally kill the momentum at that point of the show.
"Beautiful Ghosts" is not going to be sung in-context after "Memory," only over the end credits...
It is sung in the film by Victoria. The Swift version plays over the end credits.

Incorrect. It's sung both in the film and over the end credits (2 different versions).
Having pre-ordered the soundtrack, was happy to have Jennifer Lewis' "Memory" released today and had a first listen.
Hudson had a rough job. It's a song that's been covered so much and been played to death for it to ever sound impressive or catch your attention. For me, most times when it comes up on a ALW compilation or elsewhere my impulse is to skip it.
But for me Hudson did it, Memory sounded so new and fresh... I'm looking forward to hearing - and yes, seeing - all of it.
JSquared2, I know. I should have been more clear- I meant that Hayward's rendition is not being sung after "Memory."
