Generally this news would excite me but since the Rum Tum Tugger will probably be "rapping" in this production as he does in London I have little interest. I may side with the haters on this one. I enjoyed the show the way it was and would love to see it that way again but not with Webber's updates. No thanks.
With Les Miz at the Imperial, Miss Saigon eyeing the Broadway, and Phantom still chugging along at the Majestic, when this inevitably arrives it's going to be like 1992 all over again. Imagine if it ends up at the Winter Garden?!

I would totally be down for this... but first I have to hear this rap...

Andrew Lloyd Webber's School of Rock is going to the Winter Garden. I'd probably say somewhere like the Neil Simon or the Imperial.
So... heard the rap and just no. Block ALW's passport until he agrees to remove this SH*T.
And that ****ing costume...

ALW re: Nicole Scherzinger: ""She is what you might call an American theatre babe. I do believe she is the most exciting musical theatre artist I have found – well, that I have worked with – in very, very many years. I really do."
Expect a wedding announcement any day...

Hopefully, the curse of the Simon re musicals will work its magic with Cats. I will avoid it like the plague.
Lena Hall for Grizabella!!!
I'm against this but I must admit, it would be pretty cool to have Phantom, Les Mis, Saigon AND Cats on Broadway at the same time.

...who cares? If it's not your cup of tea, don't see it. I don't see the point in making it not enjoyable for the people who do love it.

Why? An online petition to prevent a show you don't like from playing Broadway is far more ludicrous and irrelevant than the show could ever be. Not to mention Cats has been far more popular, successful and effective than any online petition.

aw yeahhh
I don't see the point in making it not enjoyable for the people who do love it.
What's even more curious is the idea that people should not be given the option to see it at all.

If Patti were offered Griz as an apology from ALW for the Sunset fiasco, would she do it? She is not working now except for the occasional concert.

Yeah, Patti would love that. "Sorry for dumping you from playing a 50 year old, washed up, movie star, darling. To apologize and reward you, you may play this half-dead, ancient poos."

I just want a new recording of Nicole Scherzinger singing "Memory". If this does make it to Broadway, I'd definitely see it. No chance this would be opening in the spring?

I'd rather ALW bring Love Never Dies to Broadway (and subsequently close Love Never Dies on Broadway) than this come and play for a year ala Evita.
Am I the only one who's genuinely excited about this?
"who cares? If it's not your cup of tea, don't see it. I don't see the point in making it not enjoyable for the people who do love it."
How exactly is anyone making it non enjoyable? It's not like anyone is protesting outside the theatre or anything. If you feel that you have been hurt by any words on this thread I believe there is a Cats hotline you can call.
Ps. I do think the online petition is ridiculous.

She has a regular role this season on the Showtimes series, "Penny Dreadful," and had large recurring roles recently on both Girls and American Horror Story. It's not like she's sitting around at home waiting for the phone to ring.
The "occasional concerts" you mention are fairly lucrative and probably net her more income than months of a Broadway salary would.
All that being said, I would love to be a fly on the wall for this phone call from ALW asking her to star in one of his shows.

adam, I wouldn't want to be anywhere near the wall in that situation- the phone has to hit something when she throws it across the room...
And the dumbing down of Broadway continues. How sad that "Last Ship" "Side Show" can't find an audience and yet this crap fest comes back. I cant think of anything worse that could come to Broadway ... except maybe "School of Rock".
