Previews for the new musical Charlie and the Chocolate Factory begin in two days (Tuesday, March 28, 2017) at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre! Based on the classic Roald Dahl children's book, this production is directed by Jack O'Brien and stars a number of Broadway names—perhaps most notably, Christian Borle as the iconic Willy Wonka. Charlie is set to open on April 23 for an open run.
Who's going?!
I'm going on April 10th! I haven't seen a show in previews since the Pippin revival four (Four??! Omg already?) years ago. I'm a huge fan of the book, both the films, and the junior version of the show, so I am very excited.
I'm not going myself but I'm very curious to hear what changes have been made to the show and what people think of adults playing the all the kids except Charlie. If anyone goes please post on here about it!

Very curious to hear about this. I'm hoping to catch a late preview. Saw it in London and am also wondering about the changes made (I heard it's completely different). Can't wait to see Christian Borle as Willy Wonka!
curious to hear how much has been changed since London.
Also (just because I've been doing this on other Previews threads), here are links to the Instagram's show location page and for the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, for anybody who's curious about the inside, with previews beginning tomorrow!:

This source material has the potential to be extraordinary...but unless they have seriously revamped this from London I fear we will have another ADDAMS FAMILY.

Any discount codes / word on rush/lottery policies?
Am I the only one who keeps forgetting this show is happening? I feel like there hasn't been much press or promotion about it.

A few months ago when I was looking for tickets, most weekend performances were close to sold out. Considering they have no discount offer codes available, I'd guess they're selling well.

^From Ticketmaster, it seems pretty well sold through most of April. Especially weekend performances.
Previews begin tomorrow: March 28, 2017.
Isn't there supposed to be an invited dress rehearsal tonight: Monday March 27, 2017? Odd no one has mentioned anything.

The Addams Family is one of the greatest shows I've ever seen on Broadway. Few shows have lived up!
I saw this in London and it was really not good, so I'm quite curious to see if it is indeed true that they've redone the show almost entirely. I think they would need to in order for it to go over well at all. It's unfortunate because the source material has the potential to be spectacular, but much like with Andrew Lippa and The Addams Family I think Shaiman and Wittman are a real mismatch for Charlie. The most successful moment in the show in London was "Pure Imagination," which came quite near the end and was the one song they didn't write. I'm quite excited to hear about Christian Borle's performance though, because he seems to be ideal casting.

Literally forgot that previews started tomorrow.
Does anyone know why adults play the kids? (Besides Charlie) Is it like a child labor thing, or is it just to put the focus on Charlie?

^ it's really two things: yes it is easier to have only one adult actor versus two or three child alternates, but as much fun as it is to watch children get drowned, shrunk, incinerated, and blown up on the screen, it can come off a little... off on the Broadway stage. Also I think the actors that they have are capable of really amping up the grotesque nature of these children. Count me as excited for this production.
I wish this awful show all the luck in the world , hated, I will say that again hated what I saw in London, one of the worse shows ever and adding just a couple of new songs what help this pure mess
