I was one of the staff working the line. There was a little girl, maybe 5, who was there with her dad. She had a Sweeney Todd libretto with her. I told her gently that she could only get the CD signed and she said, "I know, I'm reading it!" As I watched them, she also had a children's book version of Into the Woods, and her dad was teaching her the story and characters of ALNM using the CD booklet. Adorable. That's how I want to raise my child. Start 'em young.

Many NYC schools are still on spring break this week. I go to grad school at a CUNY college, which usually follows the NYC public school calendar, and our spring break ends tomorrow.

Yeah, that was my initial reaction. But the two of them were just so adorable and she really did seem to love it.

How long did the line go back? Did everyone who was in line get the autograph? I was there but was like 30th in line and couldn't see how far it went back.

It was a lovely event.
CZJ is a total class act. I saw her shaking the hands of the people on the beginning of the line, but by the time I got up there it was too hectic for her to do that.

It was an incredible event.

We all got into the theater around 2:05pm. Then someone associated with the record company announced that Stephen Sondheim and the rest of the cast were now going to make their way on stage. We all applauded and cheered as they all walked out and took their respective places at the tables.

We all walked up on stage right to Aaron Lazar, Erin Davie, Leigh Ann Larkin and Hunter Ryan Herdlicka. The middle section included Ramona Mallory, Stephen R Buntrock, Bradley Dean, Marissa McGowan, Betsy Morgan, Jayne Patterson, Kevin David Thomas, and Keaton Whittaker. They all signed the left inside cover of the 96-page booklet with a silver sharpie.

Then, on the left and final section of the signing were Alexander Hanson, Angela Lansbury, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Stephen Sondheim. The four of them signed the front cover of the 96-page booklet with a silver sharpie.

They all looked their best - Leigh Ann Larkin looked like she had just come from a modeling shoot: just gorgeous. Catherine is a vision to behold, and of course, Angela looked elegant as always.

It was wonderful to see all of them there, smiling, greeting their fans and supporting each other. They all love being in this show and it was an honor to be able to participate in the signing today.

Thank you to the cast and crew of A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC for making this day possible. I loved every second of it.

bundy, I didn't count, but by the time the line started moving at 2, it went through the Crowne Plaza to 49th Street, wrapped around, and went all the way back to 48th Street.

I don't know if everyone in line made it in. I had to leave before it ended, and some stragglers kept arriving and getting on the end.

How was Steve? He looked grumpier than he's usually looked as of late in the Playbill.com pictures. Wish I could have went.

Very nice to hear. I wonder what he thought of the little girl reading Sweeney Todd.

this was such a wonderful event. I'm so glad they did this, the cast and Sondheim couldn't have been nicer and more friendly. I shared a few words with Sondheim, I'm not going to say that it changed my life or fulfilled me, but I couldn't have been more pleased to have this experience. I did feel a tad bit awkward going through everyone before Hanson, Lansbury, Zeta Jones, and Sonhdeim, but they were all nice and I think realized that most people were excited about these four at the end.

I agree about the awkwardness!

Zeta jones and Lansbury were friendly. Sondheim seemed a little rushed (had him during the initial pile up when they tweeted the "I'm 80 now" comment) but I appreciated he tried to be friendly by looking up and things.

I met some interesting people in the line. I'm pretty sure I saw you too o
ljay (I regret not saying anything..I think when I finally thought about it, it was so close to entering I better not leave the line).

/random relates but I met a guy who looked at the OBC of night music I bought yesterday and asked if it was the sequel to poto (I'm not kidding :p); 'cute'.

When my goodbye post was removed: “but I had a great dramatic finish!!!!”

I wonder what he thought of the little girl reading Sweeney Todd.

Not sure, but she did give him a drawing she had done of him in markers, which he (and everyone else) seemed to think was adorable. It was your standard five-year-old stick figure.

What an amazing experience. I didn't think it was awkward I loved getting to talk to the entire cast - everyone was so wonderful and friendly. Catherine Zeta Jones is just a class act. She was very talkative and even more stunning close up. Angela wasn't very talkative outside of "thank you's". Not sure what I said to Sondheim but I remember shaking his hand.

I would think everyone who was in line by 2pm would have gotten in. I got there about 12:15 and left the theater by 2:40, and I would say I was about halfway down the original line.

I agree that all of the cast and Sondheim seemed to be in a very good mood. The whole thing was extremely well-organized. It was also cool to see the inside of the theater in the daylight.

ETA: Did the people in Photo #14 in the Playbill.com story NOT ask Sondheim to sign their booklet?!?! Or did he start signing someplace else than on the lower part of the front cover? (See Photo #15 for a booklet with Sondheim's signature.)
