Posted: 3/17/15 at 4:23pmI wish they would have recorded it at least for PBS. I feel like this was definitely PBS worthy. I mean Alan Cumming does Masterpiece Theater for them. This was the least they could have done!

Posted: 3/17/15 at 5:15pmI know there are at least some choreographic differences, but exactly how different from the Broadway version is the Donmar Warehouse?

I find the Donmar production to be superior. For all intents and purposes, it's the same production, but some numbers aren't included, "Don't Tell Mama" and "Maybe This Time." And there were more developments and changes to the script for the New York production.
The Donmar production just feels like Cabaret to me. It feels dark and gritty and raw without trying too hard. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE this production in its current Broadway form, but there's something special about when it was done back in London before all the hype and commercialism took over.
Still a stunning production all around. If you haven't watched the Donmar video, please do!

Posted: 3/18/15 at 2:38pmYouTube. It's a legal site. The ONLY concern a few years ago was whether third-party sites that linked to it or referenced specific videos on the site were liable for copyright infringement claims. For the record, they are not liable.

I really hope they do something to remember this production.
We do have the recording of the 98 production with Natasha and Alan, but that production was never fully recorded (on video) to my knowledge.
I do believe this production or version of Cabaret is amazing and it is very said that it will possibly fade away. This production needs to live on somehow...

Posted: 3/18/15 at 4:31pmThe Donmar production is great, and that video is a great representation of the show. It is virtually the same as the current production, and preserves Cummings performance. It is too bad it is not commercially available.

I would be very interested, actually, in seeing a remake of the Cabaret 1972 film, but based on the 1998 production instead of the earlier ones...
I guess it wouldn't be a remake because it would be really completely different from the 1972 version, it would be more sexual and more aggressive.
