There's no guarantee he would win in Featured. As I said, and others have said, we know these performances are great but there is SO MUCH more to be seen.
Never experienced fire in my eyes. Smoke gets in your eyes and I've had a fire in my loins ( NO not one that could be treated w antibiotics u evil minded theatre geeks!) So I can't relate at all.
And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? 4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? 5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.
Renee is flawless in the show. It's impossible to say who will win without having seen most of what's coming, but I won't be at all surprised if she ends up winning and deserving the win. She's a stand-out in an exceptional cast.
As far far as the others go, I'd expect Miranda and Odom to be deemed eligible for Lead where it seems possible they could split the vote and leave room for someone else to win. Philippa Soo will almost certainly be Lead, which will be a competitive category and where she might suffer for not having as big a role as other nominees likely will. Featured Actor will be fascinating. If I had to guess (and again, I acknowledge it is way too early and we don't know anything), I would say Daveed Diggs and Jonathan Groff are the front runners from the show.
Plus there should be some thrilling performances coming up--Erivo, Mueller, Walker...that whole Shuffle Along cast!

Regarding Leslie Odom Jr, I cannot fathom him not being up for Lead actor. He is the narrator - he's a part of practically every song - and he has several big numbers in which he takes the lead or is solo. If he were placed into Supporting it would look like a weird play for Lin-Manuel wanting to win himself. Also the show has the best shot to take multiple awards with Leslie in Lead and Daveed Diggs/Chris Jackson in supporting.
Leslie's performance has stuck with me more than any other character and I think he's doing a beautiful, flawless job. Again he'll have competition and I look forward to seeing the other performances of the season.

It's not up to them how people get placed in the categories. They can only ask for consideration if the criteria doesn't match up. The Tony Committee is the only voice on this. We usually only know about what is petitioned based on the rulings they DO change. If Odom isn't placed in LEADING it won't reflect badly on LMM.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
Since the thread is hijacked, I must say: the idea that Burr is a "supporting" role is just ... wrong. I would hope the Tony committee would be fair(er) here. If Odom's placed in supporting, he will be Fun Home-d with Daveed Diggs and Christopher Jackson.

I thought he was the weakest in the cast. I couldn't understand half of what he said, and he was practically sleep walking through the show. Maybe I caught him on an off night.
Having just come home from seeing it a second time, she is even more impressive. The "Satisfied" sequence is equally dazzling in the writing, the staging and her performance.

lol-- hilarious. No one cares about "helping" Jennifer Hudson get her EGOT. I will say, however, politics does play a part, as we know. Jennifer Hudson is a force, and she is THE force behind that revival. We've already seen Renee E. G. so we have the benefit of knowing how amazing she is, but we haven't seen Jennifer Hudson yet (or others, to be honest)-- so it's clearly just way too early to tell who should get it on merit alone. However, the politics at play might favor Jennifer. I think a lot depends on how voters feel about Hamilton when that time comes-- there have been rumblings about Tony backlash from disgruntled voters who can't get tickets then they want, or feel like their various importances are not recognized; but this won't be enough to deny Hamilton the crowning achievement awards it deserves, but it might be enough to move voters away from Hamilton where other nominees are also strong candidates. Jennifer Hudson would be the poster child for this.

My humble opinion is there is no chance in hell."
Yeah I've seen both and I don't see how there can be any comparison. Yes Keala does a great job in Waitress but the role is nowhwere near the level of Angelica Schuyler or Renee Elise Goldsberry's command of the performance and entire stage.
