If you have to or feel the need to miss that many performances, you shouldn't commit to eight shows a week. This will be the sad downfall of a very lovely production.

And it looks like she REALLY doesn't like matinees, or the idea of two show days.

Can she even sing? She sounds audo-tuned or however you spell that on all her songs. Every time I hear that Call Me Maybe thing, I want to blow my own brains out.

I'm looking forward to the comps for those performances. Much more interested in seeing Drescher than Jepsen.

Interesting she chose to opt out of Saturday nights instead of the matinee

I saw Alessa Neeck (?) During Laura's vacation and she was absolutely wonderful. Most of the show, I had forgotten that Laura was out

Jessica Hershberg, who is Santino's girlfriend, is the new understudy for Cinderella.

I can't believe she is taking Saturday night's off...THE night on Broadway for a lot of people. While she would've had to do 2 shows on Saturday, it would've been better for her to take off Weds nights.

She will be missing more shows in her three month run than Laura Osnes missed during her entire run with the show.

That's just...embarrassing.

I'll agree in saying she shouldn't of been able to sign up for the role if she didn't want to commit to 8 shows a week. she's basically taking off Wednesday matinees(Feb/Mar), Thursday evenings(April) & Saturday evenings. I wonder how many other performances she'll miss.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

She was contracted to do six performances a week. She is being paid for six performances a week. End of story.

Jessica Hershberg will be great.

I would bet that the producers wanted her to do Saturday matinees, as it is this show's largest grossing performance. Remember who is coming to see her. Not the typical Saturday night theatergoer.

The producers are the ones who negotiated this arrangement. If there's anyone to be upset with it's the producers, for allowing her to miss so many pre-arranged performances. Not to mention what if she's unable to attend her scheduled performances.

She didn't commit to 8 shows a week. The deal was 6 shows a week and was thoroughly discussed in the main "we hate Carly and think she sucks and the show is going down the tubes and OMG I can't believe it, she can't sing at all and it's all autotune and we don't want Laura to leave, she's the best and OMG,OMG,OMG how could they pick Carly" thread.

To me ..it's nothing new. Certain performers only go on for a certain amount of performances. At least they are honest about it.

I think it's still good publicity wise to have Carly there for the show to get "that" audience...and it's smart of them to announce when she won't be there. Regardless, I was thrilled to see Laura in the role but I didn't go to see Cinderella to see her - I went to see Cinderella. Besides, enough people on this site have said they would stay away like the plague when Carly was there - so now you have some performances to choose from...LOL I still wish her the best..and you really never know.

That said, you really doubly appreciate stars like Daniel Radcliffe who never missed one performance of How To Succeed all the time he was there....for 8 shows a week.

If Carly does all of the 6 shows per week she is contracted to perform, she also will never miss a performance. She's not getting away with something, just fulfilling the contract she and the producers agreed to.

I was not at all dissing Carly for only contracting to 6 performances. If that's what she wanted and the show was willing to do it, good for her. I think it's fine.

I was just commenting that its great when a "star" or "name" has time to perform full time for a period of time. It opens Broadway up to a whole new audience.

I just think it's a shame that Broadway has had this stigma of actors taking off scheduled performances (see: all the message boards questions "does so and so do matinees") that really hasn't been the case in a long while, with some understandable exceptions. Then this one comes along and starts the whole thing over.

1967 Barbara Harris won the Tony for The Apple Tree and she only did night shows. Phyllis Newman did all the matinees..

It's nothing new..and stamina and availability is one thing but it's not the only thing.

Regardless, I commend anyone who feels that Broadway is a great place to perform and then does it. You make a lot more money in a movie or TV show or having a hit record. It welcomes a lot of people who have not had the opportunity or previous interest to see a Broadway show like I as a New Yorker have been lucky to do (and probably have taken for granted) my whole life.

As long as they are GOOD at it.
“Remember who is coming to see her. Not the typical Saturday night theatergoer.”
-Yes, but it seems her demographic (Teens and Tweens) Would be more apt to see something at night-at least in my experience.

^ agreed.
Despite the notes on Telecharge and the Cinderella website, people are going to show up on Saturday nights and be upset that she isn't on.

It's really like Carly is the understudy Cinderella because she is not performing a lot!

I saw Alessa Neeck as well, and she was wonderful! Just as good as Laura, especially for someone who doesn't know the difference. And I'm excited for Jessica Hershberg! Even though it looks like she won't be going on with Santino... I'm glad the understudies will really get the chance to shine especially since Laura barely missed any shows in her entire year run.

Of course, the larger picture is that probably without stunt casting it, it would be closing now.
