AS reported by Broadwayworld. She was really one of a kind.
May she rest in peace and God bless her soul.

I saw her in 1995, when she toured with "Dolly" at 74. She was still a stage presence, and an incredible performer. May she rest in peace. (She would have been 98 on January 31).

Just finished a long cry. I had the pleasure to interview Carol a number of times. She even sang to me once over the phone. At the Tribeca filmfest in 2011, she was feeling under the weather, but she still attended the opening of her documentary. What a trouper. Link below to the Tribeca photo shoot. I was only planning to take a few personal photos but it turned out I was the only photographer there and ended up sharing some with Broadway World. #SoLongDearie

Like many, I caught her in the mid-90s DOLLY tour and I was blown away. I actually had the chance to meet her and we had a brief, but very genuine talk. I was going through some rough times in high school and she said some really beautiful things that put it all in perspective and helped me carry on. I will never forget that kindness. She is one of the rare few celebrities that not only met my every expectation, but exceeded them all. Those people are more precious than diamonds. It so sad that we have lost one.
I hope recordings of her performances, interviews, and television appearances continues to inspire future generations of performers, as it did for me and so many others. Rest in Peace, our beloved Carol.
PS - Is someone available to do a welfare check on DOLLYPOP today???

RIP Carol, gone to the Harmonia Gardens in the sky. Heaven just got a little more fun. I picture all the angels in Heaven welcoming her as she steps down the grand staircase.

Love her voiceover work in Happily Ever After! But my first exposure to her was Alice Through the Looking Glass in 1985. I own both on DVD.

Such a wonderful performer. So pleased I got to see her perform live three times--in her signature role in Hello Dolly (1982 national tour), in the national tour of Sugar Babies (with Robert Morse and Gene Detroy's Marquis Chimps) (Carol did a Sophie Tucker tribute unique to this tour) and an amazing afternoon at Legends (with Mary Martin) (with the two ladies having a great day and the audience loving every minute).
