They do allow the interpolation of "Something Good" and "I Have Confidence" but not moving "My Favorite Things" or "Lonely Goatherd."

That clip of Underwood singing the time song made me want someone else even more. It sounds as if she is straining to hit every other note. Couldn't they find a soprano?

She was really sick when she did that show. You can hear the hoarseness in her voice on parts of the song. It's not really an accurate example of how she'll sing it.
I'm not concerned about her singing. It's the acting that concerns me. She's not always the best actress.

I'd love to see Victoria Clark or Joyce Didonato as Mother Abbess.

How come they won't/don't allow moving "My Favorite Things" and/or "The Lonely Goatherd" when subsequent revivals since both the original show and movie came out have done so?
1981 London revival had MFT in the bedroom, and TLG at a local fair. 1998 Broadway revival had MFT in the bedroom, and TLG in the Festival scene replacing the Do Re Mi reprise. 2006 London revival had MFT in both the Mother Abbess's office and in the bedroom, and TLG in the gardens of the Trapp Villa. These are just London and NYC. Other international revivals have made their own changes as well.

Here is an article with a radio interview with Carrie where she talks about the televised show and her trip to Austria. The conversation about the show and her trip begins around 6:00. The audio of the interview is below two photos of Jessica Sanchez.

I happened to just listen to the whole thing, she's lovely and is really sweet. Her and Laura have identical demeanors

I'm hearing whispers that a revival could spin off of this televised production with Carrie at the helm.
I wouldn't mind a revival of SOM with Carrie. Really hoping she nails this.

Producer Neil Meron has been posting sneak pics of Sound of Music costumes from Carrie Underwood's photoshoots. I think this will be a spectacular production.
My only question is why are they airing it on a Thursday night? Wouldn't it be competing with Once Upon a Time in Wonderland, Grey's Anatomy, and Scandal?
I wonder when these pictures are going to be released. Anyone know when she wil be starting rehearsals? Still no announcement on who's going to be playing Captain Von Trapp?

Maybe the current production at London's Regent's Park Open Air Thetare will transfer here.

Their 2010 production of 'Into the Woods' transferred to the Dalcorte Theatre last year.

I think Rob Lowe or Brian d'Arcy James would be terrific in the role. I also think Christian Borle and Megan Hilty would be great as Max and the Baroness respectively.
ETA: I just posted a link of the 2013 London production.

Christian Borle is way too young for Max.
From my understanding Scandal (and other shows) will be off before then for a "Winter Hiatus".

Really? Wouldn't late November be kind of early for a Winter Hiatus? From past experiences, Winter Hiatuses usually start after the second week of December.
Stephen Moyer has officially joined the cast as the Captain.

I wasn't expecting Stephen Moyer. Just have to wait till December to see how he does.
I think he will be a nice Cap

Boring choice.

I was hoping for Brian d'Arcy James or Rob Lowe. I'm not familiar with Moyer.

He'll probably really sink his teeth into the role.

Here's a youtube of Stephen Moyer singing "Razzle Dazzle." meh
Guess any degree of fame trumps Broadway performers who can sing really well. Sucks. Theodore Bickel is great on the OBC recording- he sang with a lot of heart.
Stephen Moyer "Razzle Dazzle" LA Chicago
That was entirely lifeless. Not that Razzle Dazzle is demanding to sing but Stephen Moyer's was D.O.A.

"I'll say it again: Carrie Underwood's "Hello, Young Lovers" on AMERICAN IDOL was one of the worst performances ever by an eventual winner."
It was nowhere as bad as her performance of "If You Don't Know Me by Now".
