I love this movie. I'll try to think of something later.
This might be the one time you'll ever hear me say this seriously -
Idina
I can't, I'm too busy jabbing rusting nails into my eyes.
I have been wanting a musicalization of this forever!!!

Hasn't there been quite a few beauty pagaent girls make some impressive Broadway runs? It'd be interesting to see them in it if it ever happened...
I know Kate Shindle (winner) & Brandi Burkhardt both have competed, any other Broadway actresses!?

Marc shaiman and scott wittman compose the score. Jack O Brian direct and Jerry mitchell choreograph please?
Except score by David Yazbek, please.
it's going to have a nice tryout in Toronto. Plenty of time to fix anything.
You know what this reminds me of...9 to 5
It reminds me of every other musical adaptation of a movie that has nothing musical about it at all. Legally Blonde, High Fidelity, Summer of 42, on and on and on...
It seems that as soon as a fluff movie comes to mind, the musical casting thoughts begin. How about a musical stage version of The Princess and the Frog? Or Twilight? Or Dinner With Schmucks?
Vanessa Williams could be Kathy Morningside.
Incidently, she never posed for Playboy. She worked part-time at a photograpy studio when she was attending Syracuse University. She did an experimental photo shoot for the photograper as a favor and for some extra money. The photos were never meant to see the light of day. She thought that he couldn't do anything with the photos because she never signed a release. After she won Miss America the photographer decided to try and make a few bucks and sold them to Penthouse.
I saw her Biography on television recently.

This NEEDS to happen. This and Drop Dead Gorgeous.
I don't want this to be a musical.
..but Idina would be just perfect as Gracie.
I love the idea of David Yazbeck writing this score. Bravo.

Josh Lamon as Frank Tobin/Morningside?
I would LOVE this film to become a musical! I actually think it would work very well.

I love the idea of Debra Monk as Morningside. That could be perfection. And Katie Finneran needs to be in it, but I'd see her as more Texas than Rhode Island. Texas has the most funny lines, at least in the movie, and Katie would amplify Texas's assumption that she had the title in the bag hilariously. But if was rewritten to make Rhode Island more than a boring naive innocent, then it could be a good enough part for her.

Kate Shindle as Gracie maybe? Or doesn't she have the comedic chops?
