A thousand times yes to Michael Berresse as Bert. I was about to say that I couldn't imagine anyone other than Gavin Lee in the role, but Michael would be spectacular.
As for Mary Poppins, my vote goes to Marla Schaffel.

If they asked Sutton Foster to do Mary I would just stay home. Let unknown Brits do the roles!

I'd pick Erin as Mary...not sure on Bert.

I don't think they would cast Erin as Mary, the show is similar- in that they are old musical films made into stage musicals- to Chitty.

I think Jennifer Laura Thompson would be a great Mary.

How about the FABULOUS Michelle Federer (Nessa from "Wicked") as Mary?
Don't f*ck with me fellas. This ain't my first time at the rodeo.

Oh, and I don't think Norbert would be able to play Bert--he will be busy with his previously announced sitcom!

I would prefer to see British actors playing these roles, though I don't think it's necessary in order for the show to work. It would just make it better. But anywho...
I could definately see Erin Dilly as Mary, but it is rather similar to Chitty. Physically, I could also see Michelle Federer in this role, but since I've never seen her perform, I wouldn't know if she's a good fit acting or singing wise. And I like the idea of Michael Berresse as Bert.

I love how people choose from a pool of oh....5 actors.
Rachael Stirling! I'd love for her to come to the states, but I'm not really serious because I don't think her vocal range is strong enough. Then again I haven't heard the recording for the London Mary Poppins (is there one? I don't know.) so she might.

For those hoping for a British set of leads, it is extremely unlikely. Equity prides themselves on keeping the Atlantic door shut unless there's fair exchange. Unfortunately, Ms. Kelley, or Kelly, has dual citizenship status and can work freely in both countries. They are, to be honest, very likely to find an unknown American man and woman to take the roles.

ruthie can sing anything even soprano and she has a good look. kelli who is a good friend of mine is too pretty i think. she is GORGEOUS and the casting notice for MP wants someone FAIRLY pretty...someone not as GORGEOUS as kelli, a little more earthy..but she could pull it off for sure! don't flame me for saying that. i am COMPLIMENTING HER!
how about Laura Benanti or i am SHOCKED no one has mentioned Melissa Erico or maybe you did and i missed it. Michele Ragusa would be good too....or Jacquelyn Piro.
Will might be too good looking for Bert but i'd like to see that too!
i am afraid to hit "post message"! here goes...

Darlings, whatever you think, there is absolutely no chance of ruthie ever playing mary, either side of the pond. The direction of the show has taken mary in a much more youthful way, and as fabulous as the woman looks, she is now too old for the role. There is far more chance of her taking over from Maria Friedman in WIW.

Except that it's been very widely reported that they're woo-ing names like Kate Winslett and Julianne Moore.

Sarah Pfisterer would be brilliant, being a broadway performer myself i think she has the right touch..the right look, the right voice......many of these "new" broadway performers can't sing classically well at all...everything is avenue q, mamma mia and all that jazz..for MARY POPPINS let's stick with the pro voices

I know very little (if anything) about this show but I'm with jasobres, I'm hoping for Stephanie.

I can see Kate Winslet as Mary, but not Juilanne Moore!!
Sutton Foster and totally Laura Benanti I can see as Mary!
As for Bert hope that Gavin Lee returns, but it could also be an unknonw.

You do know Kate Winslet is English right? Just checking. If you do know that, your grammar didnt indicate it.

Yes, I know Kate Winslett is English. That was my point. The people they're trying to get to star in this production are neither unknown nor American.
The first part of my post was a quote from someone elses post. I was addressing the fact that they said it was likely to be an unknown American actress. Perhaps I should have made the fact that I was quoting from someone elses post more clear.
