It would be hard for Megan to do the show if it comes around within the next year. She is doning her talk show!

You are all assuming that the musical will follow the movie, which was significantly different than the book. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Brenda were now portrayed as she was in the book.

From what I've heard, the musical will be an amalgamation of both the novel and movie.

This musical will be great if they cast it correctly. I agree with WonderBoy that Leslie Ann Warren needs to be back on a stage STAT. Latifah or Bette would never be given the money they would quote to get them onstage 8 times a week. I dont think Latifah could sing 8 shows a week. I think her voice records well, but she couldn't do a live show. She hasn't performed live in years and hasnt toured since she became a "movie star". She's never toured singing standards or her jazzy stuff. She only toured when she was barking out rap songs. Megan will never be able to do this with her talk show unless her talk show tanks.T he show is filmed in LA, so it wont be like Rosie doing Seussical and sorry, Megan doesnt have enough clout to move the production to NYC so she can do a play. I think Bernadette NEEDS to be cast and Patti should stay far away from this project. I can't see Patti working into an ensemble of women without chewing the scenery. I would love for Joanna Gleason to be given a shot. Donna Murphy would be great too. Maybe even Marcia Gay Harden. I'd love to get some great talent up on that stage as the wives, with maybe a few lesser known names as the girlfriends and husbands. This show could be kept alive for years with stunt casting.

It's so exciting. The news of this play is divine because it is chock full of diva moments, honey. The possibility of three divas on one stage. Needless to say, when casting is announced many queens will be crushed and hurt that their choice diva was not included in the cast. Then the mud will be flung. Good lord, we have some exciting threads ahead.

The thought of Queen Latifah in this show as one of those three women sounds not only miscast, but terrifying.

That said...Stockard as Brenda, Bernedette as Elise, Megan as Elise? Brilliance.
