So the Cats revival is seeking submissions via Playbill of actual cats doing amazing things. Barf. Sounds awful.

Also, simply by reading through the Catsing Call, it's clear they won't have real cats on stage. It's for the "Jellicle Videos" - whatever that means. A promo, or a projected video in the background, or just something to keep people entertained during intermission.

They should only be casting actors with cats. Lots and lots of cats.

The bizarre visceral hatred of this show is strange.

 

No matter what they do, people would hate it.

 

They could cast Audra as Grizabella and have Sondheim re-write the score and people would still think this is an offense to god or something.

They did fine in the original run. The cat who played Grizabella even won a Tony.

That reminds me of the Simpsons episode where Sondheim was hired to write music for a Krusty the Clown special, and Krusty told him "Just do what you did when you wrote Cats".

So is this revival just a carbon copy of the OB production, aside from real cats being incorporated? Are they using the dreadful Rum Tum Tugger rap? I'm sorry, I've not been keeping track of this show's updates.
