I just got a visual in my head of Janney and Peters together. Six foot Janney, and five foot, two Peters. I know Phyllis should be taller but they would almost look like different species.
Haha, fair enough. Although she did have scenes with Kristin when Cheno was on The West Wing, but it's easier to hide the difference on TV, I suppose.
I'd rather see Janney as Hannigan anyway. ; )
If Gleason got in on this, I'd be buying my tickets yesterday.
Possible Phyllis's- Stockard Channing, Randy Graff, Bebe Neuwirth (I'd love to see her Lucy and Jesse). I'd really love Glenn Close but I'm sure that wouldn't happen.
Could Debra Monk do the Mirror Number? I love her and this show feels like something she could do well in, but I just don't know who she'd play.
Is Liliane Montevecchi still around? Could she play Solange?
"Is Liliane Montevecchi still around?" Yes, she's currently doing a show in Germany and I think she wouldn't mind to play Solange again.
Debra Monk would be a perfect Stella. As would Tyne Daly.
We don't need Montevecchi's Solange for the 500th time. It's a perfect role for Chita Rivera, though it's a pretty small role.
Stockard Channing really doesn't scream "former showgirl" (for lack of a better term) to me. Randy Graff, on the other hand, would be wonderful--her Charlotte in the KC A Little Night Music was one of the high points of the Sondheim Festival.

As much as I love Chita, we don't need her to play another role Liliane played before and I dislike her french accent. Just my 2 cents.
Stockard Channing is also very much on the short side, I believe.
How bout Lesley Ann Warren? It would be fun to have a Phyllis who can really dance...
She's just divine, isn't she?
I've always thought Bebe Neuwirth would make a great Phyllis. I'd love to see what she does with the role. Of course her "Lucy and Jessie" would be great.
I also thought Sigourney Weaver would have been a great choice. Plus she has the 'name' to help sell tickets
The problem with Bebe is that she's only 5'4." Pairing her with Bernadette wouldn't look right. Both are quite tiny.
Michael Bennett. Ahhhh! I love Lesley Ann Warren! Good suggestion.
I'm 6'something, put me in a wig and i'll do it.
Why would John Dossett get out of this?
Lesley Ann Warren was my choice for Carlotta. But I'd be on board with her Phyllis. I adore her.
I've thought Neuwirth would make a fantastic Phyllis for a while now.

"Why would John Dossett get out of this?"
Yeah, I wondered that, too. But contracts break down for a host of reasons.
I too vote for Leslie Ann Warren for Phyllis
Michael Bennett and I were wondering if we could squeeze Sandy Duncan into the show somewhere. Her performance in last year's Encores production of No, No Nanette was a great audition for her to be Follies:
Can anyone think of anything better for her to do than "Rain on the Roof"?
And, please, no more Lilane Montevecchi. She made me ill the first time she played the role. I can't go through that again.
Why not go for Lesley Caron?
And Michael Bennett-- I know I said "Enough with these really old babes..." but can't we find a little something for Barbara Eden?
"Broadway Baby"? "Who's That Woman"?
A very idle rumor on ATC.

I highly doubt that. Martin seems all wrong. The other two would be well cast, but isn't Burnstein cast as Buddy?

I think "BWW News Desk" just made up the Kim Cattrall stuff.

I wonder if they made up Burstein too? Curry would be a more age appropriate choice for Peters.
