mrkringas is right about Griffiths doing this before. I heard about it when I was studying abroad in London last semester.

Soon after the incident, I saw an interview with him on TV about it. When asked what he would do to the people who had their cell phones go off during shows his response was something like, "I would have them killed. Not a painful death, but death."
