And if these so-called replacement people are real and not just fiction, then it does them disservice professionally. Certainly names I will be looking for in casting - to NOT cast.

It really is quite simple - although apparently "incoherent" to one of the people mentioned throughout the thread and who is responding to it herself.

A very unfunny joke was played citing Variety as a source of pending recasting of the two female leads of the "The Light in the Piazza" tour.

Claiming that Charlayne Vivika and Valerie Cherish could be taking over for Elena Shaddow and Christine Andreas (see title of thread) makes no sense whatsoever...and isn't the least bit funny. Particularly because of the personal and quite brave connection which Miss Andreas has with this role in her own life (well covered here and in the press)...plus the incredible care taken in the casting, rehearsing, restaging, and performing of this show on the road to keep to the exceptionally high standard it attained in New York.

Why this vile and moronic "joke" is either funny or now somehow "incoherent" to the actress named in it is something she really should investigate since it directly affects her reputation - but don't knock the messenger who points this out.

Idiotic things like this give internet theater sites a bad name.
I hope these two actresses are innocent of spreading false rumours and will state such to be the case... but even if not, they are two names to remember (and that is NOT meant favorably).

The whole thing is just too bizarre - too bad it isn't also funny. Although to some people it may be - so be it.

This looks like a good reminder that the Message Boards on the site are not part of the news side of BWW where credible articles are posted.

You have to sift fact from the fiction and lampooning on the Message Board. It's actually an old tradition in humor to cite a credible source (Variety) to say something ridiculous in satire.

I don't see any unkindness meant in this thread; it just played on an inside joke that I didn't even get until it was explained.

One is a BWW sock puppet, and I learn from Google that the other is a character (not an actress) from an old TV show supposed to be making a comeback, probably comedy, and doesn't even exist.

So these two non-entities, if you will, were to be taking on two of the most demanding roles in theatre. Yeah, that's kind of funny. Can't take these things too seriously, and you have to be able to laugh at yourself if you were silly enough to fall for it. Updated On: 9/17/06 at 10:23 AM
