Tony winner Kristin Chenoweth is taking another stab at TV, signing on to star in the ABC pilot "Pushing Daisies."
Comedic drama revolves around a man who falls in love with a deceased woman after he figures out how to bring the dead back to life. Should "Pushing Daisies" be ordered to series, it would be Chenoweth's first regular series role since playing Annabeth Schott on "The West Wing."

That's exciting news for Kristin. Does this mean that she will no longer consider being cast in Young Frankenstein?

She needs to quit toying with me and sign on for Young Frankenstein already!
word on one of the theatre boards is that Megan Mullally has been cast as Elizabeth in 'YF.'
Hmmm...Megan could be a lot of fun in that role.
Yeah I'm sure "Daisies" will do about as well as "Kristin" did...

Ugh. Who came up with that concept? If someone wants to give Kristin Chenoweth her own TV show, the least they can do is give her one that we might actually want to watch.

Does this mean she's not doing the talk-show sitcom with Nathan Lane?

The Regis and Kelly spoof starring her and Nathan Lane sounded funnier, though it would be the kiss of death if they were both in it.
it would be nice if megan was cast in YF so the threads about her coming back to broadway could end.
I give the show 4 episodes MAX.
it's only a pilot..has yet to even be picked up [or shot for that matter]..so you can't really give it any episodes yet..max or not.
In all fairness, this "stupid" idea for a show was created by Bryan Fuller, who also created Wonderfalls and Dead Like Me, which are, in my opinion, two of the better shows in recent years.

Hmm...and what was the fate of said "better" shows?
All the Cheno fans, don't read this. For all the rest:
Megan Mullally as Elizabeth in YF: How wonderful would that be? Even if it's just a rumor, the mind reels at the possibilities.

The fate of both shows were that one lasted two seasons, while the other lasted about five episodes.
I looooooooooove Dead Like Me.

in addition to being a Cheno fan I'm also a HUGE fan of Megan's so either way it's all good to me and will still make a dent in my wallet going to see it.
Im not saying it sounds like a TV show I would watch, but it seems ABC has been airing some pretty damn good primetime in the past 2 or 3 years. I'm sure if they greenlight the show it won't be some cheesy peice of crap.
This concept sounds horrible. I really thought the Regis and Kelly spoof would be hilarious! It sounded like something I would watch regardless of who was in it. This sounds like something I will watch only because Kristin is in it. Oh, well.
i think Broadway performers should stay strictly to the stage.
they don't belong on television.
I am a huge fan of Kristin Chenoweth as a musical theatre performer, but when it comes to the type of comedy that succeeds on television, Kristin + TV = Cheese.

Those two sentences you just said contradict each other. So what are you trying to say?
"i think Broadway performers should stay strictly to the stage.
they don't belong on television."
Yeah, cause Victor Garber has been horrible on television.
And Jerry Orbach? HORRIBLE on Law and Order. Should have stayed on the stage.
And that damn John Lithgow just couldn't find any success on TV.
Oh, and what was that show that Jason Alexander was on? Seinfeld?
Then Angela Lansbury in Murder, She Wrote. That didn't turn out so well. How long did it last?
And Bea Arthur in that failure of a show, Golden Girls.
*rolls eyes*
I wrote one sentence, but what I am saying is that television casting is ALWAYS by TYPE. Kristin's "type" is squeely, tiny and easy to dismiss. TV material doesn't suit her.
