Speaking to someone last night (someone who would have first hand knowledge of this), I was told that THE VISIT certainly isn't Chita's final appearance on Broadway and that she's already looking at coming back in something else. I don't know anything beyond that, but it made me exceptionally happy and I thought I'd pass it on.

She's not going to let Angela Lansbury beat her at being the only old pro working the stage.
Jordan, are you dating Chita's daughter??? And even if it's just a whisper, this news makes me incredibly happy, too. Chita looked and sounded fabulous at the Tonys. Given the toll that an extraordinarily long dance career (not to mention a devastating accident) can have on a person's body, I'm in awe of her still thriving strength and spark. The fire's still well alive with her, it seems.
Yes. I'm dating a woman.
Hallelujah! Prayer works, Jordan's Mama, prayer works.
My Mother is Jewish. The only thing she ever wanted was a gay son so she's happy.
Working is like breathing for Chita.
I can't imagine her ever stopping.
Can't wait for more details to emerge.
Please let this be true. Chita is extraordinary. I wouldn't be surprised if she does a straight play next. She's proven to be quite a good dramatic actress .
Oooh. A straight play. Is there a vehicle for Chita and Angela?
I was thinking of that too!
Not Deuce specifically, but an Angela/Chita vehicle.

Is there a vehicle for Chita and Angela?
James Kirkwood's "Legends" has been laying around forever waiting for two actresses to take it up.
I don't think anything can top the Charles Busch/Lypsinka LEGENDS from a few years back.
Oh dear god. Chita and Angela together would be absolutely amazing.
How about a musical version of Arsenic and Old Lace?
What about a sequel to Follies where Sally and Phyllis meet up again much later in life?
I LOOOOOOOOOVE THAT!
Phyllis (Chita) is widowed and penniless, due to Ben's bad investments.
Sally (Angela) is divorced and the CEO of a successful line of organic household products that was just acquired by Avon.
Or...?
In Purgatory, Anna Leonowens (Chita) and Maria von Trapp (Angela) meet up post-death, to tell their REAL life stories, warts and all, to finally dispel the sanitized versions their respective R&H shows present.
Get Korie & Frankel to do the score and Terrence McNally to do the book.
"How about a musical version of Arsenic and Old Lace?"
That is a fantastic idea .... or even just the play as is, if not a musical.

I wonder if The Visit would have been more successful with Angela in the role.
PJ, I like where you're going with that.
John McMartin will reprise his role as Ben, adding an extra ghostly effect.
Maybe Donna McKechnie could play an older Margie who's still keeping house for Buddy.
Margie and Sally could finally meet up.
And the tagline can be "I've Follies! And I can't get up!"
Was Harold and Maud ever a play-or musical?
Jordan--pleased to see a little of your old self back--I thought for a while there someone else was posting for you.
Yes, there is a musicalization of Harold & Maude, I have a demo CD.
