Has anyone on here watched her new viral YouTube videos? She had a profile in Vanity Fair yesterday and mentions these boards. I remember seeing her in Beauty and the Beast during that run when I was young (and of course also reading these boards at the time)!

"Carrying the show was taxing on her voice, which was already in delicate condition after she had to have surgery to remove vocal nodules right before her audition. Romano admits that she probably pushed her voice past its limit to get through that experience and make her Disney family proud. They were at 30% seat capacity when I came in, Romano recalls. They were invested in me doing a good job. Despite her best efforts, the New York theater scene was also cruel to her. I read the comments on the old forums on Broadway World, and they were so mean and so, like, theater queen, bitchy. Starring in the Broadway production of Avenue Q as Kate Monster in 2008, in her words, saved my appreciation and deep, deep love of the theater."

It's easy to forget sometimes that there are real people behind the artists we see onstage and behind the scenes. I've been trying to be better about that, but I'm definitely guilty of it too. In particular, I've been trying to ease up on my criticisms of younger up-and-coming actors, writers, and directors on this board. Or at least criticizing more constructively and kindly.

Never got to see CCR onstage - hope she returns soon!

I’m surprised (but also not surprised at all) that this board didn’t like her. I thought she did a fine job in the role - but was the theater really as 30% capacity and still ran for another 3-4 years? That seems odd to me.

I am big. It’s the REVIVALS that got small.

I'm not sure how long it'll be sustainable but I've enjoyed her newer videos. They're not as dishy as the video titles imply but more candid and less glamorous about show business.

Curious if anyone here saw her in Parade as that audition comes up in one of her videos. I've only listened to the cast album.

According to the gross statistics on IBDB the lowest week they had in 2004 was 49% about two weeks before she started. She started in mid-February of 2004, so it's not surprising that they had one of their lowest weeks just before that, as January and February (with the exception, typically, of Valentines week) are slower anyway.

Whether she really believes that she kept the show afloat or that's what she was told and just didn't bother to question it, it doesn't seem to jibe with the numbers. The show had a great summer of 2003, a decent fall of 2003, and a great 2003 holiday season.

I feel like Christy Carlson Romano probably wants more fame/roles like Hilary Duff or Selena Gomez probably have right now. Which is why she probably keeps spilling old (slightly snooze) tea from her earlier days. I think news outlets are waiting for her to release a bombshell/controversial story about someone, which I doubt she will since she seems so careful in what she releases on her channel.

Apparently she’s trying to gain some relevancy though sadly, no one seems to be interested.

She’s on some warpath with her YouTube channel, trying to make none interesting stories relevant.

Her videos have constantly been showing up on my YouTube suggestions the past month or so. I decided to watch a few because of the click-bait titles but there’s nothing to interesting in the few I watched. She did mention meeting Anne Hathaway at Parade auditions and then how she was supposed to audition for The Princess Diaries but Even Stevens scheduling ran late and she had to reschedule her audition, but then they apparently found Anne and she never got to audition.

“ read the comments on the old forums on Broadway World, and they were so mean and so, like, theater queen, bitchy.”

Tea.

I should’ve been Blac Chyna.

I think she's just chasing what people are interested in since these are doing better than the cooking videos. I actually think she has perspective and understands she can't have a career like Hilary or Selena or someone else who has worked consistently. And she recognizes that if you're not being given challenging roles, you can't really grow as an actor. What's sad to me is that she seems to want the opportunities to build her skills that she lost in the more tumultuous periods of her life.
