Awesome! I'll definitely pick this one up.
I got a really nice, informative reply from someone at PS Classics. Nonesuch is handling the distribution for the recording, apparently, so some of the logistics are still a little bit uncertain, but the plan as of now is to have it available on their website, as well as on iTunes and in stores on the 6th of February. He said the details will be finalized within the next few days, and that the website should be updated with all of the definite info soon.
I saw the show again tonight and I cannot wait for the CD.
^ Yay! Feb. 6 is so soon. I can't wait!

So I'm confused. It seems like all the Sondheim shows are done through Nonesuch, but this one is done through PS Classics or are they sister companies? It seems like Sweeney, etc. were all done through Nonesuch without having to deal with PS Classics?
This one was done by both companies; it's a co-production.

honestly, im most excited about the packaging!
PS CLASSICS always has *gorgeous* design!
All Sondheim shows are done through Nonesuch? Really?
Anyway, yes. PS Classics does have very nice packaging. I adore my Assassins CD.
Amazon.com is now saying February 13th for availability of COMPANY revival recording. Can't wait!
It's been listing that for a couple of days, at least. It may change again to the 6th.
I pre-ordered this on amazon.com back in December around Christmas...
CAN'T. WAIT.

It's gotta be better than the original...anything's better than the original...Geez some of those singers were sooooo off pitch it was scary...I mean, totally tone deaf...it shocked me that they made it to Broadway....Have you heard the opening number in the OCR.

Yeeeeah... the off-pitch voice on the OCR is Stritch...
...She's so zany, that Stritch.
Can't wait for the revival recording. So excited!
Nonesuch does better packaging. I love the INTO THE WOODS, SWEENEY CDs much more.
I'm not a big fan of the flimsy cardboard slipcover with the oversized glossy booklet inside.
I like how Nonesuch's are like boxes. Much better, IMO.

I like Nonesuch better.
And although the opening to this Company is thrilling, I don't find it possibly comparable to the sheer explosive sound of the original. Sure the voices aren't as technically perfect as they are in the revival, but their originality truly erases all the rest from my mind :-O
I just miss the orchestrations too much. In performance, it's fine - but if I'm going to listen to a CD of COMPANY, it's going to be the original.
I'll still buy the new one to support, though.

There's a lot of moments on the OCR that I love, but it's kind of inconvenient to try and listen to Company and despise the Bobby.
I'm ridiculously anxious for the revival CD.

Anyone think that they'll do a CD signing like they did at Sweeney Todd... You know at the theatre with Sondheim. that would be awsome.
I own about six different Company recordings, and I do listen to the original, but I've got to be in the right mood for it, so to speak. There are times when I really enjoy it, but others when it just annoys me. I certainly listen to it more often than I do the '95 revival, though. There are certain songs on it that I really like, but listening to it straight through is sort of boring. It has no spark. And if I had to choose a Bobby, well...
Honestly, as far as the new CD goes, I just want it to sounds as gorgeous as it does live. I hope I'm not disappointed.
^ 6 COMPANY recordings?
How are there 6 recordings? not counting bootlegs.
Original
Original London (Larry Kert's voice dubbed over Dean Jone's voice)
95 Revival
96 London Revival
??
COMPANY could use a bump at the box office so I'm hoping for signings again.
I counted them.
But the rest I referred to are the original, the 95 revival, pieces of the London revival, and the 2001 Brazilian production (in Portuguese).
^ Recording the 6 recordings, I found there are German and Brasilian cast recordings. But those seem extremely hard to find.
COMPANY in Portguese? That is a mind-blower.
Ooh, how is the German one? I actually really love the Brazilian one. I don't understand Portugeuse, but it's a really beautiful language, and obviously I know the main idea of what they're saying. It's a fun recording, with those little bits of Latin flair.
