Yes! And yet another excuse not to do my work!
The difference in hearing it produced as opposed to live is definitely striking. Marry Me a Little is f*cking GORGEOUS.
Raul's got so much emotion in his voice...it's almost like he has a different take on the character on the CD. Then again, apparently he has loosened up since the show opened? I saw it when it was still in previews. Anyway, I love it!
He has warmed it up a bit, yes. This may not make sense, it's sort of hard to explain, but I almost feel like he acts more with his vocal inflections on CD than he does on stage, as if since you can't see him on a CD, what would come across in his facial expressions now needs to in his vocals alone. He injects a lot of emotion into Marry Me a Little via facial expression in the show, and the CD sounds like he might be compensating for the fact that all you get is his voice.
beautiful, beautiful, beautiful...
Yeah, that's totally what I think too. He was so calm throughout the show, which would probably come across as boring on a CD. I'm so excited for this.

Love the sound so far and the intro they have for "You Could Drive A Person Crazy." Although I love the sax in the theater, it sounds so laaaame on the cd and I expect the number to keep really buoyant, but I find the sax stalls the pace. I don't know why it bothers me here, I like how it works in the theater...
I agree about the saxes, Company. Listening to the recording was the first time that I've really, really missed the "doot doot"s with this production. Live, the visual is cute enough to compensate, but on the CD it just doesn't have the oomph that that song needs. I think that "You Could Drive a Person Crazy" sounds considerably more sparse than I remember it, and not necessarily in a great way.
The other two clips sound beautiful, though.
Well, it is mainly a visual technique -- I love the way it works on stage in that the three girlfriends literally create a musical trio. I think without the visuals aspect to it that makes it so pleasing live, it feels like something is missing when you only have audio.
I guess it's also to be kept in mind that these are only clips; in context, it may sound even better and in some cases, preview clips aren't actually CD quality.
I cannot wait to hear Being Alive.
Wow, Marry Me a Little is lovely! No, amazing! I wish they'd had Being Alive, but I'll just let the suspense build.
To wait for the 13th or order from PSC?
You know they want to leave Being Alive for a surprise.

LOVE the clips. I'll definately be ordering it on Tuesday. I can't wait until the 13th.
Best rendition of "Marry Me A Little" I have heard on a recording before (well, best one-minute excerpt anyways). I just noticed the track listing, it's great that they're including some of the book scenes as well, it'll make it a stand-out from the other recordings.
I'm seeing the show on Saturday, the 10th (first time, I'm excited beyond words), any chances they'll be selling the cast recording there?
Theaters often get CD's in a little early. PS Classics will already be selling it by then, so I wouldn't be surprised if the theater had it as well.

Luvthe Emcee, i *bet* that *will* be possible!!
Marry Me a Little is my favorite piece Raul performs in the show and it sounds amazing here.
I have now convinced myself that it's worth a little extra money to order this immediately when possible.
*excitement*
I love these clips! Does the COMPANY clip seem slower than in performance? It does to me. MARRY ME A LITTLE is stunning. They recorded this in December and I was afraid that Raul's newer, somewhat warmer take on the role wasn't going to be on the CD but this sounds like it will. (putting on my Veruca Salt voice): I want it, and I want it NOW!
I've heard the CD, it is AMAZING. Best recording of Company to date. Maybe one of the best cast recordings ever made? It has captured the mood of this production flawlessly.
Amazing.
Wow, it sounds wonderful! I like how they balanced out "Company" so that you can really hear all the lyrics. I wonder if Amazon will be putting up clips any time soon.
Kyle...don't tempt me so, for I still must wait a few more days...ACK

I'm so amazingly excited for this recording. The OBC just doesn't do it for me.
