"I thought it was changed to SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH PATTI LUPONE GYPSY."
Haha, this comment made me laugh out loud.
Zzzz, it's August, obviously...predictable.
Do they have to give a show an award?

According to Playbill, AUGUST OSAGE COUNTY did in fact win the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

Well, yeah, it is always a shock when an award goes to a deserving party.
Especially the Pulitzer. I mean really, some of their choices recently...

What show won for the musical?
uncageg, to answer your question: No. There wasn't a winner two years ago.
EDIT- It's one award for drama, there is no specific award for musicals.

August deserved it! It really is an amazing show! Congratulations to Tracy Letts and the entire cast!
Coolkid --
We have to wait until next year when the final performance of Rent will win the Pulitzer.
Thank you frogs! That's why I was asking because I remember there not being a show awarded in recent years. Congrats to August: Osage County. I deserves it. A great play that I hope to see again!

>>What show won for the musical?
The prize is for drama in general. There is no prize for "the musical." They sometimes give a musical the award, but it doesn't happen often.
Last time it happened they made quite a mistake so in a way it's good they are taking their time to award it to a musical again (though of course the fact that CAROLINE, OR CHANGE didn't even get a nomination is a travesty).
It's so nice when awards go to the most deserving. Congrats to Mr. Letts and all involved.
Full list of winners here
Dang. Just read the full list. The Washinton Post cleaned up. They got six!
And know that TONY race is over.
When SOUTH PACIFIC wins the revival award (well, I think it will)
We will have two Pulitzer winners in the Best categories.
Has that happened before?
Horton Foote is fuming right now.
I mean, not even a semifinalist?
I guess it really is a revival, no matter what he wants it to be.
