Just saw this article about deleted scenes that have never been issued on dvd. This was from the original ending of the Little Shop movie:
Awesome
I have the original release DVD of the movie with the entire unused section that was cut, on the Special Features menu. Its very rough and in black and white with no sound or special effects. It was the first ever DVD to be recalled by a studio. I believe that release of the DVD was pulled on Frank oz's request? Audiences found the end, as Audrey takes over the Empire State and the Statue Of Liberty a little disturbing compared to the show. A new ending was filmed and the alternative was dropped at a cost of $5.

It was David Geffen who actually had it pulled and you can see the whole thing with sound included on youtube. It is really cool.
Don't feed the plants...
I think that picture is from the outtake reel. You can see a hand in the upper right corner.
Lol James! I didn't notice that.
Its a shame its so hard to get for you guys. I got given it as a birthday present without knowing much about it. I stand corrected on the Oz/Geffen blooper i made.
Yeah i have that dvd as well, its all in black and white(the alternative ending) and very very long (its just lots of footage they shot of NY been destroyed by them)
Looked like a lot of fun though
The original ending tested poorly with screening audiences. They liked Audrey and Seymour so much that to have them be killed and eaten by the plant was too much of a "downer." It completely fizzled and took the rest of the film with it. What had worked on stage didn't work on film. So they chucked the expensive finale.
The creative team actually went back tor work to reshoot the new ending, after production had wrapped... and it wasn't cheap to call the actors back and build the sets. And, in fact, one of the trio girls (Tisha Campbell) wasn't available to do the reshoot, so they used a double from the waist down. If you watch their last "new" shot, where Seymour carries Audrey in a wedding dress over the threshold of their "dream home," the three girls are dressed as bridesmaids, and they walk by the front of the camera as it pans down to the little Audrey III plant. You don't see Tisha's face in the shot, because it isn't her.
Yes, it was Geffen who had a fit and demanded a recall. His reasoning was he knew nothing about the footage being included on the DVD and he had planned on restoring the original ending which required a couple of million dollars in special effects to complete and re-release it theatrically. Of course it's ridiculous that the show has been playing all over the world for 25 years and the original movie since the 60's with the original ending and a few test audiences saw an unfinished print and wanted a "happy ending". Well, it's been more than a few years since the first DVD release and nothing about any restoration announced. I think Geffen didn't really have any plans but was just pissed he wasn't informed about the footage before it was included.
The video can also be seen on the composer's web site.
Diva, do you have the URL?

Hypothetically speaking, it would be immoral of me to post a link to download the alternate ending, right?
...especially since there's already been seveal threads in the past linking to the youtube clips.

The rough edit/cut that was included on the recalled DVD does have sound. It runs about 30 minutes and is basically the original ending of the stage version. David Geffen states that he has a color print of it and wants to use it sometime in the future. This was about 10 years ago, so we're still waiting.
This DVD the recalled original ED WOOD DVD are priced little gems.

Well then, in that case I would most certainly NOT want you to follow on this link to download it for yourself. Again, do NOT use this link.

P.S. What's the big deal with the original Ed Wood DVD? I snapped mine up before they quickly recalled them, and I never got what the big difference was.
i personally love the cut ending but i like morbid musicals of that ilk. the meek shall inherit the earth my friends...
